Lokius. Loki timeslips to past Mobius.

The world around him sizzles in that all too familiar way and Loki braces for his atoms being stretched thin until he’s pulled through time and space once more. Mobius’ apartment dissolves into whiteness for endless seconds and then snaps back. He blinks his eyes open to darkness where the ceiling light had been on before. Then there’s a click and a small lamp begins to warm up.

“Hello?”

Well inspiration struck this week, thanks to a comment on the Lokius server. Undercover cowboys, anyone?

Loki steps through the Time Door to the blazing sun and unforgiving land as far as he can see. His eyes narrow to the speck of black on the horizon - the main house of a large ranch and their destination. It’s a good half day walk and his lip twitches knowing he’ll have soaked through the rough linen shirt he’s wearing by the time they get there.

Authenticity, Mobius had told him. The TVA Wardrobe Department, while extensive, couldn’t provide a true worn-in look that they’d get from starting the mission with a “short” walk.

Loki shades his eyes. They obviously have very different definitions of “short”.

Footsteps on tile come up behind him, the noise abruptly deadening when Mobius joins him on the other side of the door. Loki turns, a quip about Mobius being late on his tongue, when he catches sight of his partner and chokes on the words.

Mobius is dressed similarly in sturdy denim and breathable linen but on his head sits a light-colored Stetson, keeping his face hidden from the harsh sun. The effect should be ridiculous, far too casual for the fastidious agent, but the look works on him.

Perhaps a little too well, given Loki’s loss of speech.

Hopefully I can finish this and people are still interesting in my writing!
