Team Falcons is a Saudi Arabian esports organization. It entered competitive Dota 2 in November 2023.

History

[edit]

Team Falcons, formerly Falcons Esports, is a multidisciplinary esports organization based in Saudi Arabia. It was founded by Msdossary in 2017, and has since expanded to multiple esports titles. In 2020, the organization fielded Dota 2 rosters in Saudi tournaments such as Saudi eLeagues 2020, but the organization had larger ambitions. Believed to be funded by the Saudi Royal Family,[1] it entered Dota 2 once again in November 2023 with the signing of skiter, Malr1ne, ATF, Cr1t-, Sneyking and manager AfrOmoush. Team Falcons repeated this approach — signing star players to mould into a team — in multiple esports titles between 2022 and 2024.

With the ending of the Dota Pro Circuit in 2023, the ESL Pro Tour added a MENA region for its upcoming season, with the first challenge for Team Falcons being the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023: MENA Closed Qualifier, after receiving a bye in the Open Qualifier due to a lack of teams. Despite the roster's relative lack of time to gel, the team got off to a solid start with a 3-1 win over PSG Quest in the Grand Final. The team further proved it was no fluke with a win in Pinnacle: 25 Year Anniversary Show, despite using multiple standins, showcasing its core strength as a team.

At ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023, the team initially showcased its strength, going 7-3 in the Group Stages, but failed to win a series in the Playoffs, finishing 5th-6th — still an admirable result for the fledgling team. The turn of the year, however, firmly put the team as the strongest in the world. Aui_2000 joined as coach, in time for three straight qualifiers for BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024, DreamLeague Season 22 and ESL One Birmingham 2024 saw them stamp their dominance with first-place in all three tournaments, with all Grand Finals finishing 3-0. A second place at Elite League Season 1 and third at PGL Wallachia Season 1 were relative blips for Team Falcons, with the team returning to form with a commanding 3-0 Grand Finals win over Gaimin Gladiators in DreamLeague Season 23. Their results earned them the top spot in the ESL Pro Tour, granting them a direct invite both to Riyadh Masters 2024 and The International 2024, as one of the favourites.

As bearers of the ultimate symbol of victory, these names shall forever be inscribed upon the Aegis of Champions:
