Crimson Waste is more than just sand and noxious fumes, even if it doesn’t seem that way at first sight. The only source of freshwater in the region is far underground, but one Illuvial has found a different kind of pool to wade in. As the only creature that can safely swim in acid, the Exalted Fire Fliish has developed a faint green colouration from prolonged exposure. When it’s not taking a dip, it can be found hopping around the area, sneezing or hiccuping from sand falls.

Biology

Physiology

The Exalted Fire Fliish is orange and pale green, with dark yellow eyes and a wide gaping mouth full of lava, its long tongue dangling out from the side. It has round bumpy toes on its feet, and its hind legs are often bent in a crouch. Upon its head is a crown made of burned rock plates that form a crude helmet with devilish horns. Its tail is made up of the same dark brown material, with a wreath at its end that is sparking with embers.

Behaviour

If there’s an Illuvial that’s touched every bone in the giant fossil graveyard of Crimson Waste, it’s the Exalted Fire Fliish. Constantly hopping and drooling lava, the Exalted Fire Fliish is always looking for a better vantage point. It defends its territory with a throat warble to warn off other Fire Fliish. For threats of different species, it secretes toxins from its skin.

• The Exalted Fire Fliish flicks its bright and shiny tongue to attract allies during times of need. While it is extremely territorial, the Exalted Fire Fliish band together with others of its kind when a bigger, more dangerous Illuvial threatens one of its kind.
• The Exalted Fire Fliish challenges rivals of its species by using its rubbery limbs to attempt to pin its opponent on the ground. It refrains from dealing serious damage with its psionic abilities because it relies on cooperation with others to survive.
