In the unforgiving landscape of Crimson Waste, red sand dunes stretch into the horizon with no end in sight. The extreme heat and scarce water sources make for a brutal existence in this region. The environment is toxic and treacherous both above and below ground, with various canyons and tunnels leading to an array of extraordinary areas. Amidst this harsh terrain, we find the Goliant, a magnificent creature perfectly adapted to survive in this unforgiving realm.

The Goliant flares its wing-shells and thrusts its tusks upwards, hurling opponents away.

The Goliant summons a ghostly beetle that charges at the furthest enemy, stunning all enemies that it passes through.

Biology

Physiology

The Goliant has a striking shell of greyish-green and golden patterns that can easily be mistaken for a mythical rock formation. It holds similar properties as certain metals and its head is shaped like a trident and forms a hefty shield, with an angular horn rising from its centre. A pair of massive, shiny gold tusks protrude from both sides of its face, complementing its burning red eyes. Its wings, also of the same red colour, are encased in its extravagant shell. Along its back are smooth and shiny elegant plates, while its legs are encrusted in rougher material. The Goliant's purple skin is almost entirely covered by armour, except for narrow openings along its legs and short tail.

Behaviour

Confrontational and headstrong, the Goliant does not back down from an aggressor. It fiercely defends its territory and uses its snout as a warning before charging. It expands its wing shells to appear even larger as an intimidation tactic. Though it is capable of throwing other Illuvials in the air, it prefers to scare them away as its primary means of defence. The Goliant can withstand high temperatures, but it can develop a bad temper in the heat. For this reason, it is most active at night, spending most of the day inside cooler caves.
