[edit]2025 NACL Roster
[edit]On December 5th, 2024, it was announced that Cincinnati Fear was leaving the North American Challengers League, resulting in Cincinnati Fear manager Xav helping with the sale of the spot. On February 7th, 2025, it was announced that Pulse Star had acquired the slot. [1] A roster of Tenacity, KryRa, Toastyalex, Spawn and Cryogen was announced shortly after. [24] 8 days after the initial roster announcement, Pulse Star received the news of investors pulling out of the organisation effective March 1st, leading to contracts of the existing roster being nullified. [25]
A report by Sheep Esports on March 11th, 2025, indicates that Pulse Star was supposed to partner with FlyQuest, but the deal was cancelled due to a lack of communication and funding issues. [26] While the players initially agreed with management to compete under the Pulse Star title without compensation, it was later cancelled due to a clash between coach Ido and Pulse Star's upper management. While Ido advocated for a team operation independently, Pulse Star opted to terminate the coach for "a breach of trust".
On March 20th, Toastyalex revealed that contracts were never actually signed, with players being tied to a verbal agreement, while the rest of the NACL already signed definitive contracts. [27] The same interview pointed out that Pulse Star founder Syko Raven forced himself into a coaching position while not showing up for many of the team's scrims and players being against Syko Raven being involved with coaching. The same interview highlighted that Pulse Star management initially did not want support Cryogen in the team. Xav highlights that the team found out about the funding issues on February 21st, but did not inform the manager until the 24th while The Pulse Star players did not find out until February 28th. With delays in communication and the sign-up deadline of February 21st, the former roster of Pulse Star was not able to compete in the 2025 NACL Split 1 Qualifier.
DarkZero Esports signed the ex-Pulse Star roster as DZ Light during 2025 NACL Split 1, sharing stage time with the existing roster. [28]
