Chronology
Apex 2014 was the fifth installment in the Apex series hosted by Alex Strife. It was held from January 17–19, 2014 at the Doubletree Hotel in Somerset, New Jersey. Sponsors included Twitch.tv, which helped with financing the travel accommodations for several high-level tournament entrants.[1] Live streaming for the event was provided by Team Sp00ky, Clash Tournaments, 8Wayrun, and Bifuteki. Another notable feature of this tournament was the Salty Suite, which was run by VGBootCamp and featured exhibition matches between high level players. In addition to a singles tournament for Super Smash Bros. Melee, there were ten other fighting game tournaments.[2]
