Chronology
Canada Cup 2016 took place in Toronto, Ontario on October 28-30, 2016. Super Smash Bros. Melee was featured alongside Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Street Fighter V, King of Fighters XIV, Guilty Gear Revelator, Tekken 7, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat X, Killer Instinct, Pokken, BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EX, and more.
Canada Cup Gaming announced that a pot bonus of $500 would be added for every 50 registered players.[1] At 232 entrants, Melee Singles qualified for a pot bonus of $2,000. In addition, $1,836.50 was added to the prize pool through a crowdfunding campaign on Matcherino.[2]
