Aires "Aires" Yap is a Malaysian/Singaporean Terran and Zerg player who last played for CranKy Ducklings.

He is a permanent resident of Singapore.

Biography

[edit]

Clare started playing StarCraft 2 in Wings of Liberty, originally picking Zerg as his main race. He decided to switch to Terran after seeing MarineKing play in the GSL Open Season 2. Watching him heavily influenced Clare's Terran playstyle.

Legacy of the Void

[edit]

Clare started playing LotV in the beta phase and participated in the SEA LOTV Beta Anniversary Tournament. He was able to breeze through the Malaysian Qualifiers but fell out in Group Stage of the main event.

Later, he took part in the Malaysia Qualifiers for WESG 2016 and WESG 2017. Unfortunately, in both events Clare took non-qualifying second place, both times losing to Ranger in a close series.

On April 20, 2018, Clare won an amateur tournament, Sea Duckling Open #23. Shortly after, on April 26, 2018, he joined CranKy Ducklings, the team organizing the event.[1]

On July 5, 2019, the ANZ Proleague Season 4 was announced with Clare being part of Team Malaysia.

Trivia

[edit]
  • For a while preferred to be called by his IDs rather than his real name[2] but in August 2020 he changed his main handle to Aires.
  • Loves MarineKing.
  • Played Zerg in WESG 2017 as he felt the urge to Baneling bust his way to the finals.
  • Is starring in a TV show The Good Fight [3] as well as others, specializing in stunt work.
