4v4 Pass Time

4v4 PASS Time is a competitive basketball-like gamemode of TF2 focusing more on fast-paced, skillful gameplay than its casual counterpart. It challenges teams to use their mechanical skills (rocket jumps, airshots, trimps, surfs, etc) as well as solid teamwork and communication.[1]
On April 28th 2025 it was officially announced that PASS Fortress would release on Steam as an Source-SDK mod.[2]
Ruleset
[edit]4v4 PASS Time features a heavily restrictive whitelist compared to casual TF2 or 6v6 competitive. To encourage the skillful, competitive play we desired, the community decided to take an approach to the whitelist as moreso allowing what we thought was fun instead of banning what we thought was unfun. Only soldier, demoknight, and medic are allowed. For a team of 4 there are class limits of three soldiers, one medic, and one demoman.[1]
All hitscan weapons are BANNED. This is due to hitscan sending a flying jack into neutral, making the jack not score once in the goal, significantly slowing the gameflow down as it allows players to sit passively and negate a team from scoring at all. Projectiles can also do this, however, it’s a lot harder to do. Alongside this, stickybomb launchers of any kind are also banned, as they allow the demo to jump across the map with the jack and score very easily.[3]
