MiZi MuZiK no. 4 delivers a coolly ecstatic, groove-driven collaboration between Madrid’s Landikhan and Berlin-based icon Mira, with a hypnotic interpretation by Ed Ed. Equal parts rhythm-centric smasher and chord-heavy reminiscence, ‘I’m Still Here’ draws on a rich sonic spectrum to deliver a period EP filled with beautifully arcing warehouse euphoria and playful Funk.
The title track ‘I’m Still Here’ is a vibrant fusion of classic chord ecstasy, warehouse-ready energy arcs, and throbbing Dembow undercurrents. Set against a sonorous kick and booming tomtom groove, Mira and Landikhan marry cool, funky dancefloor elegance with cycling patterns of escalating chord chops. The result is timeless and captivating: flurries of tactile chords and dynamic drum patterns revolve in mid-air—a brightly blazing groove totem to guide the night.
‘We Drop the Ball’ pivots the mood to heavyweight—and beautifully impromptu—Funk. Anchored by squelching, blown-out bass themes and Disco-infused drums, ‘We Drop the Ball’ unveils an intensely tactile playfulness. Deceptively casual in its session-like flow, Mira and Landikhan push the track’s elements to a towering apogee. It’s raw, beautifully engineered, and crucially, it bumps.
Ed Ed recasts ‘We Drop the Ball’ as a deep, immersive dancefloor seance with a sub-heavy core. Draping his rendition in ghostly vapour, Ed Ed transforms the original’s galvanic chords into a haze of swirling atmospheres broken by flashing flickers of transient, heavily effected synths. Dark, sensual, and powerfully hypnotic, Ed Ed dips the original into a vast pool of slow-burning bliss. Bringing together nostalgic depth and rhythmic sophistication, ‘I’m Still Here’ seamlessly blends Mira’s and Landikhan’s distinct styles. It’s an eclectic take on dancefloor energy that transports both a sense of sonic refinement and the ad hoc joy of creative invention.
