This is guide on how to transfer your save from itch.io to steam note: this is permanent.
- make sure you have downloaded latest version available Even if you think you have the latest one (you dont),
- Navigate to settings and click export to clipboard buttom.,
- Close your itch.io game version. We recoment to also save the copied save just to be sure you wont lose your save. (just paste the copied text and save it somewhere safe).,
Optional, but highly recomented is to also go save your data from the files themself. This is done by following you path where you downloaded the game. It goes something like this in file explorer: C:\Users\yourUserName\AppData\Roaming\idle-looter\Local Storage once you open that you find ''leveldb'' you want to COPY this file to somewhere safe this holds your file data.
- Navigate to the Email you used to buy the itch.io game and look for steamkey. copy it.,
- Go to steam and click games --> activate steam key (or something similar). Paste the key and go download the game.,
- Go to settings in the steam game and press import save from clipboard. Wait a few secs and your save should load.

Itch does not support payed web games ( to my knowledge).
For steam there's only windows executable. You should be able to refund the game since 0hours played
but i paid here on itch.io not in steam.

I have been playing on the web version and just bought the steam version. I am trying to export my save, but there is nothing in my clipboard after copying.
You are most likely using chrome. Chrome does not allow copying. There is a workaround in discord. I can copy it to here. (made by another player)
Hey! Just going to add two notes since my friend and I just did this. Found a fix for me, here is how (chatgpt answer)
Chrome blocks clipboard access only in the outer itch.io page, not inside the game frame. So you must open DevTools inside the game iframe: Go to the itch.io page. Scroll down to the actual game window. Right-click inside the game canvas → Inspect. DevTools opens, now inside the correct iframe. Go to the Console tab. You are in the right frame if this command shows game data: Object.keys(localStorage) If you see keys like: idleRPGSaveData_0 idleRPGAccountData → Perfect. If you see nothing → repeat Step 1 (wrong frame).
Paste this into the console: navigator.clipboard.writeText = (text) => { console.log("=== SAVE COPIED ==="); window.mySave = text; return Promise.resolve(); }; WHEN YOU TRY TO PASTE THE ABOVE COMMAND INTO THE CONSOLE, CHROME WILL PROMPT YOU TO TYPE "ALLOW PASTING" INTO THE CONSOLE. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, THE COMMAND WILL NOT WORK This replaces Chrome’s blocked clipboard with your own fake clipboard that cannot be blocked.
Now click the normal Export/Copy button inside the game. The game will think the clipboard works and call navigator.clipboard.writeText(...), but the save will go into a variable instead. You should also see in the console: === SAVE COPIED ===
In the console, type: window.mySave Press Enter → the full export save string appears. Now you can select it → Ctrl+C → done. WHEN YOU SEE YOUR SAVE (A BUNCH OF RANDOM-LOOKING LETTERS AND NUMBERS) IT WILL START WITH A ' AND END WITH A '. YOU MUST MANUALLY COPY EVERYTHING INSIDE THE TWO ' MARKS, IF YOU COPY THE SAVE WITH THEM, IT WILL NOT WORK This is the same save string the game normally copies to your clipboard (e.g. 913e6Iycl...).

You can have multiple saves. Go to manage saves and start new one. If you decided to transfer the browser data make sure you transfer it to fresh save (don't overwrite your current) You can then choose if you want to play both or maybe go for different builds. We are adding offline progress back at some point. So even just having it in there can be benefiicial

what are oyu trying to use? Are you using drill at the same time or gem?
Literally anything in consumables. Even after closing and opening I can't click on them. The only I think odd thing I have is a wisdom of the overworld I can't use because I already have one.

was feeling it UNTIL the first prestige. the fact that its a rolling "you must progress another 100 floors to prestige again" ruins it completely. it means you are HARD punished for each piece of equipment you didnt unlock the prestige bonus for, as well as for each 0.25% boost to those absorbed stats that you didnt grind out.
the lack of an automatic hunting selection likewise, makes that part of the game virtually unplayable due to the painfully low gains and extreme number of missions needed to be done to buy anything of value. absolutely wouldnt pay anything for an experience like this.

You have multiple options to prestige (at the end unlimited). Upcoming update (live on steam but not on itch yet, hopefully today) also adds early companion that can do hunts for you. Hunts can be automated but it costs lot of scrap.
im saying, dont require the player to progress further each time to prestige. instead, make prestiges at later stages have a larger effect that makes them worthwhile.
The requirements are not that much. You can get the next really easily. And the effectiness scales already pretty well. You keep all the set bonuses, awakend stats, special effect etc.
im telling you as a player : youre wrong. it takes exponentially longer to reach the next prestige. NONE of that shit matters though does it? not unless before my first prestige, i idled for some 3 weeks or so to unlock all the upgrades needed to make prestiging have some more value.
whatever. fuck it, im done. youve made it very clear from your other responses here : you dont give a shit about feedback. youre making what youre making, with no regards to how shit its becoming.
Thanks for the feedback. We have really healthy prestige system in place based on thousands of players feedback. Game can be played without prestige at all (P0 mode). You can boost your stats by acquiring gems (farming mobs or buying gems from hunt/merchant/stationary shops) and insert the gems to your gear to make the progress faster. You can basically prestige every 50lvls if you so desire.

Good morning, I bought the game and would like to know if it is possible to play on different computers? Like if I take the saved data and put it on my computer at home, because at the moment I'm playing at work lol.
One more thing, what is the difference between the game I'm currently playing in the browser and the game I purchased?
Hi there! Unfortunately you can't transfer progress from the browser version to the downloadable version. Downloadable has much more content. The browser version ends at first realm (lvl 400). In downloadable version you get access to all the content (lvl 1600 currently & more to come).

You can but it can be a hustle. If you have discord it can be easier to share infro and debug together but we can do it here as well. You need to nacigate to the folder that has your save file(s) and copy it. Start the game on the home and close the game. Navigate to the location and replace the folder. If theres no save yo uwont find the folder
I couldn't quite understand what you said! But I just need to know where the file is saved, in which folder on the computer! Is it in the game's installation folder, is it in the documents folder in users, where is it?

there you should have folder called leveldb. Copy it and replace the folder in your home compuer. If you dont have this folder at your home computer, play the game a bit and close it. It should appier.
Hello, just started (level 20), it seems I can spend gold on Permanent upgrades but their level doesn't increase - the log seems to concure: "Purchased Level NaN of Gold Mastery!".
From level 27, pictures (monsters & equipment) are broken.

There is another Bug: I can't add a third Socket with an Artisian Drill to the Pioneer's Platebody who has 2.
Did you already add one with the drill? In case you did not I need to double check the logic for expedition items.
Yes I did, the Item had only one Slot and is supposed to be able to have 3.

Yes. This was changed in the latest patch to make "natural" sockets more valuable. We are monitoring the situation and *may* buff the DPS & click damage gems

The other Set Items are at Power Level 446.
Unfortunately there was a bug in the configuration file. It didn't convert your old expedition gear correctly. New gear that drops should be working as intended. Sorry for inconvenience

Will this game ever go to steam? Also, is the 2.99 purchase the full game or early access / beta / still being developed?
We are planning to release on steam at some point but we want to polish the game before doing so. The 2.99 is for the full game. We are still developing it but there's no other payments required. Even when we release on steam we will keep this version up to date.
Will our save from downloaded version be transferable to steam?
Currently no, but we are thinking about exporting information which would allow you to transfer your progress.
(playing browser version) If I grab a pioneer helm (that I have in my prestige slots)
do I get the +12% dmg non boss permanently like the slime sword adds an extra buff ? (so the pioneer set would be completed and permanent after 1 or more prestiges necessary to collect 3 pieces of equip )
Yes you absolutely get the non-boss dmg boost absorbed to your stats. If you prestige with all pieces you will get the set bonus as well. To get the set bonus you need to have all pieces. You can prestige them in one go or in multiple but you need all 3 different pieces.
It seem to take quite some time and luck (is this influenced by magic find btw ?) to get some pionneer stuff ... and I realise its hard loss progression wise, Im getting no Exp, no gold ...
Expeditions are meant to be a challenge with low % chance to gain items but when you do it's massive boost to your hero.

You can get the pet only once and it will stay with you forever
i downloaded game on my old windows 8.1 laptop .. and it says app cant run on this pc ? any tips

Unfortunately no, this means the .exe version is not compatible with Windows 8.1
will it run on linux or ubuntu?
I know that theres at least one other player that has made it to work with linux. Updating can be annoying. There was some issues that progress does not automatically carry and he needed manually tranfer the files.
I run it in browser on linux:
Right-click > This frame > Open frame in new tab
Then browser zoom in or out as needed with Ctrl - Ctrl +

I run it in browser on a 13-inch laptop, I cannot see the lower part of the Action panel - Prestige Now & Prestige Slots.
I can see the lower part if I zoom the page way out, but that makes the text too small to read.
A workaround is to add a style to the action panel: overflow-y: auto;
This then adds a scrollbar when needed.
This will be fixed in the next update!

Items dont seem to save when you prestige? I have weapon and chest slots unlocked and have prestiged twice and lost the item both times?
Also dont seem to be able to put gems into equipment?

Missed your other point earlier. You need item with socket to insert gem into it.
I was trying to put gems into equipped items, i have worked out the item needs to be in your inventory to be able to add gems into it :)
it should work in equipment tab as well. At least it is going to work after next update.
