everybody talks about fanfic tropes they like. enough of that. send me an ask roasting your least favorite fanfic tropes. the stuff you will tear your hair out if you see again. hit me with those takes. I gotta know.
i’ll go first: coffee shop aus
i know, i know they’re popular, i know they’re often masterclasses in characterization and storytelling. i understand this is a personal issue.
but seriously, i’ve tried reading them for multiple fandoms and every time it feels like that first bite of a burrito where it’s all tortilla and you’re waiting for the filling but then the whole thing turns out to be tortilla. why is nothing happening. why are they in a coffee shop. why am i reading about a coffee shop i already know what those are like where did all the magic go why did you send the story back into the reality from which i was trying to escape what happened to make you so cruel aaaaaaaaaa
anyway i’m curious what tropes bother other people! (also happy to argue about the coffee shops but i will warn you the stakes are low, i am irrational, and i will approach that argument with roughly the amount of good faith ben shapiro brings to unmediated debates with college freshmen)
