I was thinking about it: In Japan, someone who started buying Bessatsu Shounen Magazine just to read Shingeki no Kyojin, would also end up reading Aku no Hana, Okaeri Alice, Aho Girl, Flying Witch, Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo yo, etc

That's just one magazine, I could also use others as an example, but that was a way to make readers give a try to different stuff.
I commented on What happened to "horizon-expanding" content? on how magazines in the west served a similar purpose of exposing people to stuff they wouldn't be exposed to otherwise.

Should there be ways to "forcibly" expose people to a diverse array of media?

thats not exactly forced because the magazine does not force consumers to pay for other manga there

but diversity is link with "variety is the spice of life"

It ain't forced diversity, lol. It's just... well... variety. Sticking to one and only one formula can become a problem really fast for a magazine's popularity at some point.

As with many things, it depends on the situation.

For the purpose of your question, you give an example of a good application of it, something that is getting people to run across a greater diversity of media.

Though it's not really forced, nor is it really done for the purpose of making people expand their horizons. As with any commercial art form, it's just trying to sell well. Making people more interested in more franchises can be part of the business plan, though from what I'd guess, the main thing the business wants is to offer a diverse catalogue themselves, so they can get different people to buy their magazine for different reasons. This way they're not just dependent on, say, Attack on Titan, for their revenue, but they can pick up the people who buy their magazine for Attack on Titan, as well as the people who buy the magazine for O Maidens in Your Savage Season, and the people who buy the magazine for Aho Girl, etc..

also inb4 this thread becomes stupid people hating on SJWs/DEI/etc. and missing what OP is about. Prove me wrong by not doing this, AD. I dare you.

That's not forced diversity. It's just a way to attract more audiences/demographics. Nobody is forcing them to read the other manga.
If I had to choose between One Piece and a girlfriend...I think I'll go with One Piece

Forced diversity = there is a black person in my Chinese cartoon and I am mad about it. Nothing to do with reading different genres of manga

Forced diversity is bad. Creativity should not require one to tick off checkboxes to be distributed.

Same applies on forcing people to consume media. It is like being forced to pay and take classes that have nothing to do with your job career in college.

@Adnash Exactly. I don't think it's an attempt to force diversity rather than the age-old business practice of variety attracting as many potential customers as possible.

It’s anime. If it works, it works. If it doesn’t, fans will roast it harder than a shonen villain monologue.

Where is that force mentioned in the title? I only see a wide choice of products on offer.

People should watch whatever they want, interest in expending horizons should come from the person, just look at how literature in school makes people dislike reading though they are taught great books

1) NO! Forced diversity is never a good thing, on the contrary, it tends to be detrimental to the product that uses it becuase they are so focused on diversity they neglect the writing, world building, character developement

2) What you described there is NOT forced diversity, it is good marketing. You have a magazine in which all the stories are the same genre and style? You're only gonna appeal to those who are into those specific things. You have a magazine which caters to different interest within a demographic? You appeal to a wider audience, and bonus people might discover new interest

Everyone has the right to not read anything they don't want for any or no reason.

Huh?? That is the dumbest interpretation of variety of offerings I've ever seen.
The magazine did not include different genres to force people to look at different things. It put them there in the hopes that AT LEAST ONE of the manga chapters within would appeal to different people, and grab another sale. Just like when you go to a car dealership, there's DIFFERENT COLORS of cars there.... wow what a concept. There's red for people who like red, and white for people who like white, and blue for...
Restaurants serve a variety of dishes to appeal to a broad range of tastes; not to "force" you to eat different food.
You kids really have your brains screwed up. You see everything exactly backwards, it's really strange!

My point is that, in an alternate universe where it didn't, I feel it might have been correct for it to be "forced" to do so.

misleading title tbh

but yes!! the phenomenon you're describing is good

the algorithm used to be a good way to do this, but it's been iterated into forms that really just feed people more of whatever they show it
i've found tons of great music off youtube, but these days i get the sense that the only thing it wants to show me is stuff i've already listened to, and there was never a point when it was gonna show me a good deathcore track if everything i'd been listening to was doom metal or something
to get an experience like that you need to either talk to an actual person or read a blog or magazine created by them
