Nope, sorry. I gave you a chance - people HAVE to know they need to make things different to be considered NEW, right?
Wrong. Dead wrong. Insofar this series follows the "Kicked from Hero's Party" sloplot down to a T. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING is new or written different from what came before:
- MC goes to another party and forms a chaste harem;
- MC was secretly OP the entire time;
- Heroes party fails without the MC; <------ series is currently here
- Hero tries to convince MC to return, MC denies;
- Hero turns into villain;
- MC defeats hero;
- Hero party healer who is MC's love

Maou no Musume wa Yasashisugiru!!

I first thought this was a kid's show. I wasn't wrong about that - but that wasn't the entire premise either. Much of the show IS targeted towards children, with simple moral lessons in kindness and acceptance, but at moments, it hits hard in my adult feels. And that's when it hit me: Maou no Musume is an anime for the entire family. If you have kids at home, this show is a good way to spend time together.
No, this show won't go into existential metaphysics of being, nor will it try to warn of the dangers of a post-capitalistic cyber future. It deals with ... Dec 1, 2025
Honestly, first thing that comes to my mind when thinking about this show was "We have Arifureta at home". Enormous group of summoned teenagers, the one outlier kid happens to be the misteriously OP edgelord. That is, however, where similarities end.
The MC is an assassin in title only. He does not kill - he outright refuses to - even when the target is the big bad who will make his life miserable. Oh, and the stealth skills that makes him an assassin? Basically forgotten after 3 or 4 episodes, where fight scenes devolve into your usual flashy head-to-head combat. Most aggravating is his complete lack of ... Nov 23, 2025
Before I say anything else, this is not your typical Isekai. Not by a long shot. So if you're looking for your typical shonen action show, this is not for you, and that's ok, plenty of shows with adventurer MC's kicking ass and taking names.
Chichi wa Eiyuu trades power fantasy for slow burning political scheming, with a dash of esoterical and a bit of romance. The MC is not the Hero, but the Hero's daughter, Ellen, in a world post-DemonLord plot where the Hero returns and has to face the political machinations of a jealous king that he must serve in order to preserve his ... I usually give a LOT of leeway to isekai. I'm not that hardcore of an anime fan. That being said, this one made come all this way to write this review and warn others about it. It's not that bad, which just means it's not even trying. It's a paint-by-numbers that checks most boxes you expect from the genre, without deviation:
- Lawful good, impossibly naive MC with godlike powers and zero growth; - "All I want is a slow life" than slowly but surely gets pulled into a larger plot that turns him into a reluctant hero; - Deus Ex Machina works overtime to fill the gaps ... |
