Nonexistent customer service and faulty cars.

I bought a car with a faulty starter motor which failed within a year of owning the car. I contacted BMW warranty service and received no correspondence. Due to the need of using the car I have payed for, I had this issue fixed myself. Since then, I have received a letter stating that the starter motors on these models are faulty and to stop driving the car until it is replaced. It's a good thing I had this replaced already, because the time frame for getting in fixed is in 6 months time!

I have sent a complaint and asked for reimbursement for the faulty starter motor replacement and I do not expect to hear back from them.

I will selling the BMW and buying a more reliable make with good customer service attached.

Review Content:I am absolutely appalled by the lack of integrity and professional ethics at Group 1 BMW Reading.I had an appointment booked weeks in advance to install a dashcam. The night before, a staff George even sent me a text message to confirm the appointment and remind me to show up.However, when I arrived the next day, I was shocked to find out that they had sold the dashcam I had reserved to another customer! This is a complete betrayal of trust. Why confirm an appointment and remind me to come in, only to sell the parts to someone else behind my back?They are deceitful, unprofessional, and have zero commitment to their customers. They lie about what they can and cannot do. A prestige brand like BMW should be ashamed to have such an untrustworthy dealership representing them.

Furthermore, their technical knowledge is non-existent. When I requested a basic fluid and oil service (5 oils, 3 fluids) for preventative maintenance, they actually discouraged me from doing it! It’s clear they want the car to deteriorate so they can charge more later.This car was sold as an "Approved Used Car", which supposedly passed a rigorous 165-point check. Yet, within just a few months, it has been back for repairs constantly. What exactly did you "check"? It is obvious that your "Approved Used" status is nothing but a marketing scam to deceive customers. You have no technical know-how, no professional integrity, and zero respect for vehicle safety.

Premium Price Poor engineering and Cust Service

My 2018 BMW X1 has a frustrating issue with the dual-zone climate control I need to warn potential BMW/Mini customers about: the driver’s side blows cold air while the passenger side delivers warm air, leaving me uncomfortably cold during drives, especially in the mornings. This appears to be a widespread problem among X1 owners and a known design fault admitted by BMW, often caused by a faulty blend door actuator on the driver’s side that fails to properly mix hot and cold air. Despite the premium price of the vehicle, this recurring defect requires expensive repairs—with BMW dealer quotes around £2000 - £3000 since the whole dashboard has to come off.
Emails to - 'customer.service[AT]bmw.co.uk' simply tell you they are not technical and to book the car in for diagnostics at a local BMW dealer, when you try to do this (tried 3 local) and describe the issue to them they ignore you or say you have to book a £260 diagnostics check but then admit the repair will be over £2000.
For a luxury brand, I expected reliable design and engineering, not this inconsistent performance. I can only give it 1 out of 10—BMW really needs to address this design flaw for future models, this was my 1st BMW and now I am stuck with a very expensive bill and a company that refuse to acknowledge the fault and compensate its customers, in 35 years of being a Ford owner previously I have never had repair costs like this and can only warn future prospective BMW/Mini owners to shop elsewhere.
Shame on you BMW/Mini I will be paying for the repair and selling and going back to Fords

I have had an on going issue with my i5…

I have had an on going issue with my i5 M60 estate, I have had the car for 6 months and have had to buy 6 new tyres, I have spoken to Sytner and BMW directly (who were no use at all) about the issues. The car is fitted with 21" alloy's and ultra low profile tyres which is not a suitable fit for UK roads, I am also told that three of the alloy's are buckled which if i replaced them would take total spend on wheels and tyres to £5000 pounds in 6 months - every time I hit a pot hole (they don't have to be big) the tyre side wall splits, WE also have a saloon car of the same model and that has gone through three tyres and has had two alloys replaced and that car is fitted with 20" alloy's with higher profile tyres than mine. If you google this issue it is a well documented problem especially on the 21" alloy's. I previously had a BMW M4 again with low profile tyres and travel the same journey to work for 3 years (28,000 miles) without a single tyre or wheel being damaged, the weight of my i5 m60 is far too heavy(2500kg) for these ultra low profile tyres which are fitted! I have now been offered to buy 4 new 20" alloy's and tyres at a cost of £6600 that would take my outlay in six months to £10k. The nett result is I have a £125,000 pound car that I am reluctant to use because of this tyre issue.

I received a fantastic response to my flat tyre. I would like to give a special thank you to Kailem, who helped me resolve my tyre puncture on Saturday. He was very punctual, arriving on site within 30 minutes of my call to BMW, and did everything he could with grace. He is a real credit to his company, Alliance, which operates on behalf of BMW.

Rubbish BMW road assistance


Called BMW road assistance at 8pm last night as got a flat tyre, I was told the technician will arrive at 9.20 pm. Called back @9.30pm to be told that there is no engineer available and somebody will call me back in 10mns. Called back at 10pm to be told that the operator gave me wrong information as he used the time 9.20pm from a previous job! And that no BMW engineer are available until 7am so I asked if they can get a recovery truck to get my car parked at my house. I was told he is coming at 12.01 pm. I called back at 1am to be told he is coming at 1,35am, he arrived at 1.40am
What a disastrous experience! You expect much better from BMW/MINI assistance!!!
At the end I called AA insurance through my RBS bank account and they are coming at 8.20am this morning to replace the tyre.

I paid for all the safety features and they dont work properly . I used my self parking tonight and it reversed straight into a large boulder , so much for paying for parking proffesional to avoid thing like this the sensors never picked it up

After receiving my I5 M60 it was an initial amazing feeling , within 48 hours the reality is that the range of the vehicle is exceptionally low, 6 months in and average 127 miles, against WLTP of over 309
BMW state no fault , the lease company say the same so will not do anything

It’s likely going to be a very expensive paper weight unless the Ombudsman can assist

POOR SERVICE !

Pensioners stranded in freezing temperatures

Myself and my wife were stranded in a supermarket carpark after I had an issue with the remote and unable to access the vehicle. During my initial call to BMW Assist i emphasised to the operator that we we're both in our late 70s and therefore vunerable.
It took 2.25 hours in freezing temperatures before help arrived.
Fortunately a stranger helped us out just before a mechanic arrived and we got home safely.
BMW Assist is extremely poor with very little in the way of updates and very slow service, my wife is also disabled , it was a horrific experience for us, waiting over 2 hours in freezing temperatures.
Considering BMW is a so called luxury brand, their roadside assistance leaves a lot to be desired.

BMW ix2

Don't bother with a BMW ix2 EV complete waste of time. Does not provide anywhere near the range promised and forget about losing 20% when driving in winter as you lose over that on charging so 280 was a guide. That goes to about 250 then in winter its 200 and to get that you have to drive like miss daisy! The car is 8 months old and has been back to BMW 3 times! Plus this government wants to charge for the pleasure of having an EV on top of the extra car tax and having a new car so done bother. I wont be doing this again with any BMW - Prestige? My A+

Useless company

I’ve had a deeply disappointing experience with BMW regarding enquiries about the car discretionary commission. Despite multiple attempts to get clarity, my requests have been repeatedly ignored. The lack of transparency and refusal to engage with legitimate customer questions is unacceptable.

It’s extremely frustrating to be stonewalled when all you want is a straightforward response. Based on my experience, BMW has not demonstrated the level of accountability or customer care I would expect from a major brand.

Shockingly distasteful…

In general bmw are constant in their meet n greet and customer friendly, i have dropped my f22 220d msport xdrive for a winter check. So far so good.
Whilst waiting for my car i took the opertunity to take a look at some M2's M3's and up through the range, still a dynamic designe but for 1 small issue, who at bmw let the eejit into the designe department to unleash his absolute disgraceful designe of these new grills.and bumper configuration, they now look more skoda than bmw at frontal elevation ( not that there is anything wrong with skoda ) but this abonimation on what should be a premium car is shocking

Bought Brand New BMW M4 5000ks later and it needed Brakes and Discs

No talk about the safety issues these brakes could have caused!!
BMW UK and the Dealer JKC Coleraine NI. Didn’t want to know. Wouldn’t stand over it. (STAY CLEAR) Why pay near £90000.00 and get this service. This is my 7th BMW and I can say it will be my LAST. Customer service pure Shite! Want the big money and then don’t want to know!!
I’ve been buying Land Rover the last 20 years from Charles Hurst Belfast and never was treated like this
Always looked after me.

Recently had my bmw x1 into Lloyds bmw silverlink for an oil service £290 as a time served mechanic I could have done it myself with bmw parts for about £60 but I wanted bmw history .On picking the car up I was told I had a leaking suspension mount (a common fault) £500 to fix .This mount had been changed 10 month previously but apparently I’m not covered by the two year bmw warranty 🤔🤔🤔🫣🫣 because I didn’t purchase the mount it was done under warranty.Cutting a long story short I got home jacked car up and both mounts bone dry car was later inspected by same dealer and guess what no fault found so where did the £500 come from be very careful using this bmw main dealer .

Service-Induced Damage – No Accountability from BMW

I took my BMW to Group 1 Ruislip on 07/10/2025 in limp mode (restricted to 40mph). After their software update, the Head Unit and Kombi crashed, leaving the car completely immobilised for over ten weeks.
BMW now claims the Electric Motor Electronics (EME) requires replacement at a cost of £7,000, despite the fault arising only after their intervention. Courtesy car support has been withdrawn, and I am being asked to authorise costly repairs before another loan vehicle is provided.
This is not a warranty issue — it is service-induced damage caused during BMW’s own programming process. Yet responsibility is being deflected, leaving me without mobility and facing unreasonable costs.
I am escalating this case to The Motor Ombudsman and will be logging all transport costs incurred until BMW accepts responsibility. Customers deserve accountability, not deflection.

BMW Sytner Leicester - Swift assistance

Enquired about missing service history.

The response was swift and before the end of the working day I was emailed the full service history in pdf format, including everything from the dates, mileage at various services and work carried out.

This was very impressive contrary to my past interactions with Sytner Mercedes Edgware when I had to visit them personally on a number of occasions.

Sytner BMW Leicester you are way above everyone else. Excellent service.

I will now switch from Mercedes to BMW just because of this pleasent experience.

DO NOT BUY A BMW !!

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been reaching out to various departments to clarify some questions, but unfortunately without success.

In 2023, I entered into a 48-month lease agreement with BMW Financial Services for a BMW 218i. At the time, I specifically requested that both servicing and tire replacement be included in the agreement, and I was assured that these would be covered.
I completed the first scheduled service in January 2025 at Sytner Worcester BMW without any issues, and it was covered under the lease. However, I recently booked an appointment to replace the tires as the vehicle has now reached 30,000 miles. Sytner Worcester BMW declined to proceed, stating that tire replacement is not part of the lease agreement.
I have finally reach out the BMW UK and I have been told that tires and brakes are not included, and my question is .... what is the point to lease if you have to pay everything?
No negotiation possible - first time I have purchased a BMW and will be the last one. - VERY VERY POOR!
