Issues fixed

Low performance

A possible way to get better performance is to use the 4GB Patch.[citation needed]

Windows 11 issue

The game will not run on Windows 11 out-of-the-box due to changes in the DirectSound effects subsystem introduced in the OS update.
Restore functionality
  1. Download DSOAL (latest version).
  2. Extract the contents of the DSOAL_rXXX.zip/DSOAL+HRTF/Win32 folder into the game's installation directory.

Notes

  1. Version 4.70 of StarForce DRM requires a manual driver update on Windows 8.1, Windows 10, or Windows 11 to function properly.[1][2] The driver can be updated using SFUPDATE.
  2. When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
