Welcome to the mildly chaotic, tiny habitat of just another weird, creative human on Tumblr! :) I’m Starful! I love to draw, write, and read. Let’s have some fun!
On this fine day, the wee lad had a bath, through no one’s fault but his own. Agent of chaos that he is. With his leg extended in a way that would make Avra proud, he is obviously a contender for the title of “Wettest Pu$$y in the World”. Truly wet and pathetic. Everyone should pity him greatly. 🙂↕️
If you happen to get none of these references, you should read Alexandra Rowland’s “A Taste of Gold and Iron” AND “Running Close to the Wind”. Because don’t you want to be in the room where it happens? 👀
If I was invited to tea with Ambassador Baltakan, I would bring these earl grey black sesame cookies and aquafaba meringues! The cookies start off nutty from the tahini before shifting into that trademark fruitiness of the tea. The meringues aren’t terribly sweet like you’d expect, being instead a lovely melt in your mouth mellowness. Both of which sure to bring smiles to even the tensest of tea parties, especially ones involving not giving away that secret from the Arasht government that you totally didn’t intentionally steal, truly it was just a stroke of really weird luck, to the Ambassador.😉 * Now if you’re wondering why on earth you accepted an invitation to such a high stakes tea party, go read Alexandra Rowland’s Running Close to the Wind!
My entry to the Scuttle Cove Cake Competition! A basque sourdough cheesecake! 😆 She may look modest but her custardy texture and roasted marshmallow flavor is nothing to sneeze at. One could say luck is on her side, in both victory and surviving seagulls. 😉 And if you happen to be helplessly intrigued as to what this fabulous Scuttle Cove Cake Competition is and why seagulls are involved, go read Alexandra Rowland’s Running Close to the Wind!😆
Reading Alexandra Rowland’s A Taste of Gold and Iron or Running Close to the Wind. Decisions decisions🤔 …….Just kidding!😆 We all know what the answer is to that!😁
Sometimes there’s nothing better than sitting down with a favored cup of tea and a good book. Especially now that the cooler months are settling in. And what better book to do it with than Yield Under Great Persuasion? Yield is a cozy, fall romantasy (romance fantasy) featuring the shenanigans of local goblin of man named Tam Becket, who owns a tea shop, and Nicolau Lyford, lord of the local manor. Follow these two have they deal with nosy but wonderful gods, an adorable infant with a fragile heart, and trudging through the difficult quest for self care, forgiveness, a second chance, and the revelation of the deeply precious knowledge of that someone loves every bit of you and always has. Yield is the third installment of the Seven Gods Series (the others being “The Lights of Ystrac’s Woods” and “Somd by Virtue Fall”) that takes place in the Chantiverse, the completely wonderful universe in which all of Alexandra Rowland’s fantasy novels take place. So if you enjoy Yield and want more goodness, consider seeking those out! Of course with your fall beverage of choice and a comfy reading spot. A certain harvest goddess would want nothing less after all.
Let’s give a warm welcome to Yield Under Great Persuasion! Looking for a cozy m/m romantasy for the fall? This might be the novella for you! It features a local gremlin of a man named Tam Beckett and his long-standing complication who is sunshine in a human form, Nicolau Lyford. Follow Tam as he begins the messy, hard process of not only figuring himself out and becoming better but also figuring Lyford out, who he has known since childhood and has not forgiven him for a vegetable smashing, contest entry ruining incident that happened they were nine. Them sleeping together for the last ten years being irrelevant of course. It took me four days to read but I was also a very busy human who used every bit of free time to read this book and enjoyed every second of it! There is a gorgeous aching warmth to this book that is unlike any other that l’ve ever read. Even some of the conversations l’ve never seen in another. So it should come to no surprise that I highly recommend checking it out if any of this calls to you! If not, check out @_alexrowland’s instagram post about it for more info!
The theme is books and nature! Two things that bring me joy. 😊
All the books (listed in order of appearance below) featured are by the wonderful Alexandra Rowland. Some of these I have read and some I have yet to, which is my goal for the summer! If you’re seeking a book or more to add to your own summer reading list, consider adding one of these and read them among the pretty nature around you! You can find information about each on Alex’s website, which I have linked below. I also put a link to a snippet of their most recent release (the last book in the reel) below too! Hoping you find joy during your summer!
Books in order of appearance: Conspiracy of Truths, Choir of Lies, Some by Virtue Fall, Over All the Earth, The Lights of Ystrac’s Woods, A Taste of Gold and Iron, Tadek and the Princess, and Running Close to the Wind.
A pretty book amongst pretty flowers! Now that allergy season is finally over, it’s a good opportunity to spend some time with nature and a good book. As long as it’s not too hot that is (*sighs in 90 degree weather*). If you’re looking for a summery funny book, I recommend Alexandra Rowland’s hilarious pirate novel Running Close to the Wind! Follow the wonderful chaotic trio, Avra, Teveri, and Julian as they get up to equally wonderful and chaotic shenanigans involving seagulls, horny sea serpents, and a well guarded secret. And it’s always a good time when chaotic pirate shenanigans are involved, yes? If you need further convincing before you seek it out, check out a snippet of it linked below! If you’re looking for something different, I recommend looking into Alex’s other books and novellas. Particularly A Taste of Gold and Iron, a book that has stolen my heart and I would be in desponds if I were ever get it back. Whether you pick these two or another book, I wish you happy reading and good weather!
Back at it with something different today! Have some memes inspired by Alexandra Rowland’s newest queer pirate novel Running Close to the Wind. I struggled keeping my composure as I put these together! 😂 Which is a very similar experience to reading the book actually.🤣 It’s available for purchase (and likely upon request at your local library if it doesn’t have it yet) just about anywhere but if you’d like to take a peak at before seeking it out, you can do so here:
