Command & Conquer: Red Alert is a real-time strategy game (RTS) developed by Westwood Studios and published by Virgin Interactive for DOS, Windows, PlayStation, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable in 1996.
Originally designed as an expansion pack for Command & Conquer, it became a full game in its own right when the developers realized they had created something quite different. Instead of war between the Global Defense Initiative (GDI) and the Brotherhood of Nod, time travel has created an alternate reality resulting in a new conflict between the Allies and Soviets in Europe.
