And yes, Ana is in a happy relationship with a woman called Camrin Dumuzi. They have a kiss in the comic!

There are also interesting parallels between O14 content and some content between Ikora and Eris.

Also yes, Andal and Cayde were alive at the same time. They were best friends basically and ran in a fireteam together (with some other Hunters too, including Shiro-4). When Andal got killed, Cayde really never fully recovered from that loss. Cayde’s cloak that he wore in game originally belonged to Andal. There’s not much information about whether they had any romantic involvement, but it’s Destiny! It’s possible.

Cayde also canonicaly enjoyed reading trashy romance novels, some of which featured gay characters. So he could reasonably be bi/pan.

Look. I understand the Fortnite/Destiny 2 partnership. It’s batshit, it’s funny, and honestly the Destiny armour actually looks sick (Especially the Hunter armour), BUT WHY ON GODS GREEN EARTH IS CAYDE-6 NOT A FORTNIGHT SKIN?!?!

EVEN ON A CAPITALISM SCALE IT’S DUMB! You could have literally got every Hunter main, every Cayde lover, pretty much every D2 and D1 player to buy a skin. You give us ANY Cayde content and we’re going to lap that shit up like we’re a dying man in the desert and it’s a glass of water. This is the community that got TIME TRAVEL involved. We were theorizing FOUR YEARS LATER about how we could bring this ONE character back. I’m pretty sure if we had an in-game choice between bringing Cayde-6 back or saving the entire universe we would bring Cayde back.

But instead we got the FUCKING Exo Stranger.

Tl;dr, Bungie and Fortnite are fools for not putting a Cayde-6 skin into this collaboration.

The Fortnite partnership is an event designed to get people who play Fortnite interested in Destiny (and the other way around). It’s a promotion for Destiny in Fortnite.

It makes no sense to promote Destiny with a character that players coming to Destiny will never meet in the game. People seeing Destiny stuff in Fortnite will be interested in trying Destiny out and having a skin based on a dead character would be confusing. The point is to get a wider audience interested in Destiny and promote it with currently existing and relevant characters so that when they jump from Fortnite to Destiny, they can recognise the characters.

Elsie was a huge face of entire Beyond Light campaign and is very likely going to be further relevant going forward. She is also actually a time travelling robot that jumps between dimensions so if anyone has a lore reason to be in Fortnite, it’s her. Elsie is far more important for the current story of Destiny.

But lore aside, it does truly boil down to capitalism. They want people to get attached to Fortnite skins and then move to Destiny and be able to recognise the characters they saw in Fortnite. Nobody who plays Fortnite knows who is Cayde and the number of Destiny players thinking Cayde is the most important character ever is at an all time low.

Promotions like this only work if players can actually get invested in the currently relevant characters. Cayde is not. He died 4 years ago and nobody coming to Destiny from Fortnite has any sort of an attachment to him. And a vast majority of Destiny players don’t really care about him anymore. Elsie is also an equally beloved character that has been with us since D1 launch and is actually still alive so people who come to Destiny 2 will be able to meet her.

I’ve seen this line of thinking repeat a lot so I wanted to address it once and for all.

Genuinely not really! I guess Eris? Even though she’s Lightless, but I would still count her as a Hunter and she was arc. Similarly, I guess Shiro-4, though his plot relevance is questionable. I’m definitely looking at least at characters that have been present in the game with a model and voice lines. If we stretch that classification, Katabasis would be the last Hunter that we’ve interacted with (though after his death) that was not solar: he was a void main! Specifically spectral blades.

I’d like to know Micah’s main now that she’s plot-relevant, but we’ve never seen anything about her preferred subclass. It would also be nice to know about Chalco, since she’s a fairly regular lore character now.

Begging more Hunters to pick up other subclasses and specifically void.
