i wanted to wait until i had more of these edited, but it’s been taking so long that i figured i should post what i have right now!
i’ve been waaay slow to get through HolMat photos! here’s one of my Disgust in the meantime!
inside out memory orb tutorial!
you can see that there was some experimentation with getting these right, but in the end they were pretty easy and cheap. the total cost was probably around $5/orb? so $25 for all 5, but we already had the wire and the fluff on hand. breakdown below!

here’s a quick rundown of my fabric painting process for my disgust cosplay. first, i tested various colors and painting techniques, including using different kinds of brushes, applying directly from a nozzle, and attempting to emulate embroidery, to find one i liked. in the end, i ditched my fancy pants fake-embroidery idea and went with applying from the nozzle and going over it with a paintbrush to get even coverage.
for the pattern, i made four different flower stencils based on the different shapes i could see on her dress and traced them onto the dress, placing them as exactly as i could in relation to one another. then it was just a matter of slowly and tediously going over all those lines with paint. it took forever, and i sorta want to add some glitter or something to it in the future, but at least it’s done!

first full makeup test for disgust! man, this body paint thing is hard, and i am not yet good enough at it. i still need to shorten and glitter-up the wig, too!
this dress is slowly coming together… still got a lot of hemming ahead of me! and then a lot of painting. but when i’m done, all the other kids will look at their own outfits and barf!
