I would give 0 stars if possible
I would give 0 stars if possible. I was overcharged for the delivery, the movers who picked up the furniture smelled of heavy marijuana use, the delivery did not arrive as promised (it was late). Several items were missing or broken. I spent 8 months trying to work through CSI, their claims resolution company and ultimately my entire claim was denied. My daughter was moving from Utah to Alabama and they were leaving the day that the furniture was picked up. The movers looked at the items to be moved and revised the volume to be moved from 400 cubic feet to 550 cubic feet (and increase of 37.5%) and increased the move cost from $1870 to $2942.50 (a price increase of 57.4%). They wanted to increase the move volume by 50 cubic feet for a chest of drawers. I chose not to include the chest. After they left I measured the chest and it was only 13 cubic feet. This verified that they were over charging for this move. If we had time and if me daughter was not already leaving for Alabama, I would have cancelled the move and sought out another company,
I was quoted a price of 1500 and I had…
I was quoted a price of 1500 and I had to change my original move date. They changed the date to move one day earlier and gave me a time area. I told them I had a doctor's appointment and wouldn't be there to schedule it later . But they didn't but I made it back. One of the movers was very efficient and helpful and the other one only kept talking about the cost. I had to pay 900 and 900 when they dropped off my belongings. Then was told that the final payment has to be cash or a post office money order only. When you call to try to find when your belongings will be delivered they won't give you an answer and is very nasty. They have no compassion and won't give you an answer. Just says you will get a call or text the night before. They picked up my things on 12/19 and I still haven't got my belongings and it's 12/23. I have been staying at a hotel since I can't stay at my new place without furniture due to my disability. Don't use this company. I feel really helpless .
DON'T DO IT!
First, after reading the reviews on line and the company rebuttals, this company is/was 100% responsible for my move Job #AF137840. This is a horrible company to do business with! DO NOT USE THEM. They say they gave me a discount, but what they did was rape me on the way out! They demanded an additional $1500 on pickup. Being a senior citizen, I was totally blindsided by the additional money. My move was from Sugar Land Texas to Spartanburg, SC. I had been updating my inventory and texting my rep with my updates. Turns out the rep changed his number listed at the top of quote and supposedly did not receive them, giving me an extra 1.2 cubic feet which cost me dearly! The driver confirmed to me that he was going to San Antonio to pick up a second load and he and his team were driving directly to SC and told me they would meet me 12-5/12-6 for sure in Spartanburg. I'm going from a warm climate to a colder climate and when I was told they were going directly to my new location, I packed everything including all my warm clothes, knowing I would get my things in a few days. Well....it turns out the driver lied, after 9 days they have not left the place of origin and stated to me today....they have 21 days to deliver my things. Now I'm left in the cold and probably won't even have my things by Christmas. I had other companies that advised against using this company. I could go on and on about how bad they are, but read the other reviews. I'm passing on this to you.
They are a bait and switch program
They are a bait and switch program. They are a third party mover. They just take a cut. They say anything to sign you up, and then you get the actual mover to the site, load the truck and say this is going to cost more.
Will never use this service again or…
Will never use this service again or recommend to anyone. I was charged and extra $1200 after my items were loaded onto the truck. Then it took 10 days instead of the 5 days they told me it would take to receive my items. Delivery guys were lazy and could care less how my items were delivered.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY it is a SCAM dig deep to find the real reviews
They will purposely underestimate your move to charge you more.
I told Colby that I had 2 10X10 storage units that I had to pick up. He estimated 1170cuft. 2 bedrooms.
He assured me that I would receive a 26ft truck. A 26ft truck at the least is 1600 cuft. It holds 3-5 bedrooms.
If I would have kept them I would have definitely been charged more. They also kepted my deposit of $1,300. Online says that I could cancel 48 hours before the scheduled trip. The trip is scheduled for September 20, 2025. However on the contract it says 72 hours to cancel and to send it to a certain email. I unfortunately sent it to Colby who didn't respond. I called the next day which is today. Got his vm. I called the main number spoke to Ray. He gave me the correct email to send my cancelation to.
Debbie called me in response to my cancelation email and she agreed that the move was underestimated. But she still made it VERY clear that my deposit was non- refundable.
I couldn't even dispute it with my bank. They converted my payment into a check. This is definitely a scam. I do believe they are a scam and a broker. Which means they dispatch other trucking companies to move your stuff.
no one never responded to my email to even acknowledge the cancelation.
They have three different names:
American family mover
Four Winds relocation
Movesafe relocation
I'm happy that I caught it only God knows how horrible things could have turned out! This is a very expensive lesson that definitely will NOT happen again!
It's very sad that they obviously need money so bad to SCAM people. This could be a really good legitimate and lucrative business. To receive $1300 and you did nothing for it is INSANE! Karma is REAL. It’s not good or bad it just IS!
This company is a mess
This company is a mess. They misquoted the cost of the move and kept adding to it once they arrived FIVE DAYS later. They did not read the instructions on where to offload, despite being informed of the small alley that would require a smaller truck for transfer, which they assured us was how they would handle it. They were told repeatedly how many stairs there were, and now they are charging more for those, which should have been included in the price. They finally arrived today 8 hours late, and they are charging us $75 per foot that they have to travel because they had to park the huge truck down the street because they did not follow the instructions. It has been a nightmare, and I would never recommend them.
Avoid at all costs.
I originally reached out to A.F.M in January 2025 to discuss my family's move from Nevada to Virginia in June 2025. "Daniel K." - who I have not heard from since - provided a moving quote of 650 cubic feet and $3,575
for a THREE BEDROOM home with furniture and 70 boxes of items.
I have no clue what happened to Daniel, but somehow I was passed along to an "Adrian". In March, we agreed to pay the additional $873 for moving/ packing supplies, which increased our total to $4,448.
It's about two weeks before the move and I have heard nothing from AFM. I call, and Adrian is not available, and I am speaking to someone new, (again) this time, it's "Ray." I knew that there were different amounts I needed to pay (deposit, pickup and drop off) and I wanted to clarify them. 28 minutes on the phone with Ray and he was able to give me no answers.
He couldn't even tell me who was assigned to my move. On the 9th I called and was able to speak to Adrian, who was able to give my payment breakdown and let me know someone would call the night before to set up times for pickup. I told Adrian about my less than satisfactory call with Ray, and he gave me his work schedule and the best times to get ahold of him. Little did I know, this would be the last time I spoke to Adrian.
Well, I didn't get a call the night before, I got a call three nights before, and asking if I would be ready for pickup the next morning. I, unfortunately declined, and said Monday is still the day for us.
Sunday night comes, no call. Monday morning, I wake up at 6am Nevada time to call Adrian, because he told me he would be in office "ready to help!". I get Ray again. 32 minutes of being on the phone, we finally figure out who my movers are going to be and instead of them arriving in the morning, they arrived to pack up my three bedroom home at 630pm!
Another surprise - how is AMF doing their estimates? With our furniture, and 33 boxes (37 less than what our estimate states) we are NOW to pay $8,200?!? About double our estimate. I would understand a thousand or two, but seriously AMF is out of touch with their estimate figures.
So pickup happened on 6/16 and it is now 6/25. Our estimate from AMF states first available delivery date is 6/23. Obviously that date has came and went, without hearing a PEEP from ANYONE. We call, and of course, Ray, is the only one available - oh, and don't bother asking for a supervisor because there never is one "available". Ray says now that we have a window of 21 days for our items to be delivered.
We asked Ray if he had been leaving messages for Adrian - our moving specialist to call us, and he gave us the run around. Obviously he is ducking our calls.
They claim to work with professionals- they sent over Master Moving INC which has an F rating with the BBB ! An F!!!!
Even though I was told we would revive a three day notice of when our furniture would arrive - we were given a 12 hour notice by the driver. The moving company called while the movers were there and said they were
"en route".
Before they started unloading they wanted the remaining money first. Nothing is labeled and everything is thrown into boxes. Furniture delivered 6/30 from a 6/16 pickup.
We also seem to be missing over $1,000 in belongings. Including my Dyson hairdryer, Tory Burch sandals and several bottles of Chanel perfume.
An oil diffuser (open) was put in a box, obviously oil spilled on countless previous items- including matryoshka dolls from Kazakstan family brought to me from overseas. Bedroom furniture scraped up. We almost sliced ourselves open with the amount of broken glass that was in this box.
We called again today 7/21 and spoke to a Gae (gay) who also has no idea why Adrain hasn't called. She asked for an email, which was sent promptly after she asked- (even though they haven’t responded to any of my emails since 6/14/25) She couldn't tell us who was in charge of the company - what employee doesn't know who the CEO is of their own place of employment - and told us her managers name is "Danielle".
Worst movers ever
Where do I start? How about the fact that they quoted me $1,800 and I ended up paying $9,500. Or when I emailed them twice to tell them that we would have more stuff than initially quoted and, when I asked what the extra cost would be, they said there would be no extra cost. Then when I tried calling and emailing them to clarify, there was no response. They also hired a very unprofessional moving company (apparently they are just brokers and don't have their own trucks), who showed up 2 hours after my scheduled window, constantly complained about the work, didn't provide an inventory list, showed up 3 days late, stacked my stuff in a way that either destroyed boxes at the bottom or just threw furniture on top of each other without any care, and then dumped their trash for us to take care of. Never EVER use this company. They will act all nice and professional to get you and then bait & switch you into paying 4.5x more than expected. They should be out of business.

Scam Only interested to sell you a contract, charge more during pickup. Stop taking your call and breaching the agreement and giving you BS. STAY AWAY. Adrian, Brad all crooks and pros in scamming you.....
This company is completely scam
This company is a complete scam They are liars and cheaters. They promised delivery in 2-3 days to secure my business, took all my belongings, and then suddenly claimed it could take up to 30 days with zero accountability. This is nothing short of holding my things hostage Their sales team sweet-talked me nonstop before pickup, but once they had my stuff, they turned into ghosts or rude agents who couldn't care less about helping me. They are unprofessional, unethical, and operate like a legalized extortion racket. They have caused me an unbelievable amount of stress, mental trauma, and disruption to my life. It feels like they deliberately lie to trap customers, knowing you have no choice once they take your belongings. If you want to be robbed legally, choose them. Otherwise, stay far away from these scammers.
If I could give zero stars
If I could give zero stars, I would.
Hiring American Family Movers was one of the most stressful, expensive, and infuriating experiences of my life. They scammed us out of thousands of dollars, completely botched our move, and showed a stunning lack of professionalism, organization, and accountability at every step of the process.
They were a full day late to arrive, with no proper notice or apology. When they finally did show up, they did not move all of our items, just “forgot” them… even though we had done a full video walkthrough with them beforehand and sent detailed photos. They had to come back days later to pick up the rest, further delaying our move.
Once they had all of our things, they refused to send them until everything was collected — again, something they never communicated clearly. Despite having our exact address well in advance, they suddenly claimed upon arrival that they couldn’t park near the home. That “surprise” cost us an extra $600 to shuttle items around the block — a fee that felt intentionally deceptive.
But the worst of all was the bait-and-switch pricing. Our quote was around $1,500, and by the time it was all said and done, we had paid over $5,500. Why? They suddenly claimed we had “more items than expected,” even though we literally showed them everything via video call beforehand. They did this up charging 3 times. Including after a thorough walk through of our apartment. They also claimed that packing materials and service would be included. They packed nothing. No boxes. No supplies. Nothing.
When our items finally arrived, late, of course, the driver showed up alone, with no one to help unload anything or bring it inside, despite being told our things would be unpacked and set up. He dropped it all in front of our house and left.
To top it off, they delivered us someone else’s furniture. We caught one piece and told the driver to take it back, which he did, but we later discovered a box that wasn’t ours. We tried multiple times to return it, and they simply didn’t care. Meanwhile, one of our own boxes, worth about $2,000, went missing. When we asked them to address it, they demanded proof of purchase for every item inside, which was ridiculous and clearly a tactic to avoid taking responsibility.
We received no follow-up, no accountability, and no reimbursement. The driver promised to “reach back out”, of course, he never did. A number of our items also arrived damaged.
American Family Movers was not just unprofessional, they were exploitative. This was not a moving service; it was a con job. I’ve moved multiple times and never experienced anything even close to this level of chaos and dishonesty. Save yourself the heartache, the money, and the stress. Avoid this company at all costs.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
UPDATE: Thank you Steve. You are the first person from American Family Mover to respond to me in the month since I first requested a refund of our deposit. I certainly understand that there can be factors out of your control. We pivoted as necessary and managed the move ourself. I will be fine if you refund our deposit, since you were not able to provide our confirmed move. ****** DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Still waiting for a response from American Family Mover (AMF) to our request for a refund of our deposit, given that they NO-SHOWED our confirmed move. We made a reservation with AMF in April, to move our daughter from MA to SC in June. I understand now that AMF is a broker more than a moving company, which was certainly not clear during my initial conversations with the rep (Adrian). He was very friendly and reassuring that we were all set with our dates, which I expressed were crucial. I confirmed via email & phone both the week & day prior, was reassured that our window was 8am-10am on June 10th, and was told that the movers would call by 6pm on June 9th to clarify a more precise time. They did not call, so I called Tuesday morning June 10th at 8am and was reassured that “since it was confirmed they would probably just call when they were 30 minutes away.” So my daughter and her fiance sat in the middle of all their boxes and waited. We called the main number and spoke with “Ray” many times over the next 9 hours, trying to understand what was going on. All he could say was that the main office was closed (Tuesday mid-day?), the internal team was not responding to his inquiry, the internal team was working on the inquiry but had no information, and there was no manager available. We asked who the movers were and he couldn’t say. We asked that someone contact the movers and he said there was no way to do so. It all made no sense. We were increasingly fearful that this was all a big scam. When there was still zero information at 5pm, we concluded that AMF was either a total scam or had, at the very least, been unable to honor our confirmed reservation. Our daughter and her fiance scrambled to rent a UHaul and load everything themselves, while my husband and I canceled our vacation and drove 4 hours to meet up with them and drive their UHaul from MA to SC ourselves. When a new AMF agent called at 5:30pm and said they would have someone there at 7am the next day, we had zero confidence left. When the “mover” called at 7pm, I said I had a couple of questions for him, including when he thought he would arrive in SC? He asked if he could call me back… and then never did. Our fears were confirmed and we continued with our emergency pivot. In hindsight, it probably should have been a red flag to us that we couldn’t pay by credit card, even though their website says they accept credit cards. We have reached out to Four Winds Relocation, LLC (to whom we were required to pay the deposit by Zelle or Venmo), but they have not responded to us either. We are positive people by nature and almost never post negative reviews, file formal complaints, or pursue legal action. This whole experience, however, has been deeply frustrating.

This Company are not Movers, they are only Brokers.
This company took $2500 of my money and did not complete the contract. they did not move one piece of furniture. Check your inventory list. when they showed up to my house, the movers automatically wanted more money. the inventory list was incorrect, they wanted money to adjust the list. it wasn't even my list. Do tyour research, READ THE OTHER REVIEWS! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR SANITY!

🚨 WARNING: Do Not Use American Family Mover 🚨
This has been the worst moving experience of my life.
Not only did it take over 40 days for my belongings to be delivered, but communication was nonexistent throughout the entire process. I called and emailed repeatedly with no response or updates. When my items finally arrived, I discovered that over $13,000 worth of personal belongings were missing, including electronics, designer items, and sentimental valuables.
To make matters worse, I reported the stolen items immediately (within a week of delivery), and neither company has provided a claims department, reimbursement, nor any resolution. I was completely dismissed.
The most alarming part? My Apple AirPods Max were traced to an address in San Jose, CA — showing clear proof that my stolen items were relocated and possibly resold.
I paid $2,200 for this move, only to be met with theft, silence, and blatant negligence. I’ve since taken legal steps to seek justice, and I strongly urge others to stay away from this company.
This isn’t just bad service — it’s criminal behavior.
They called ahead to let us know when…
They called ahead to let us know when to expect them. When they arrived they surveyed the job and went to work. We couldn't believe how fast they worked and very careful not to damage anything. I will definitely use them on our final move in a few months. We will also ask for Shane and Seth again.
experience was so good
