CollegeAdvisor.com is an online college counseling company that has guided over 7,500 students and families through the competitive and complex undergraduate admissions process.
Now powered by U.S. News & World Report, CollegeAdvisor.com provides personalized, effective, and accessible college admissions advising to students from all backgrounds. Data-Driven Expertise from U.S. News
At CollegeAdvisor, we’re proud to be a part of the U.S. News family. We work directly with our colleagues at U.S. News to provide students the resources they need at every stage of the college admissions process.
Our free web portal at app.collegeadvisor.com is powered by U.S. News’ comprehensive data on schools across the country. That means that students will always have access to everything they need to know about the nation’s top schools, including information about tuition, acceptance rates, top programs, enrollment, and more.
Beyond our web portal, we’re constantly working alongside U.S. News to find new ways to integrate the expertise of both companies.
No other college advising company has direct access to the trusted, respected data, journalism and advice from U.S. News, and we’re committed to using it to help your family understand every aspect of the college search.
Experience Matters
In addition to the nearly 40 years of college ranking and school data from U.S. News, we’re proud to have a network of over 350 Admissions Experts and former Admissions Officers. They’ve been inside the admissions offices at top schools like Stanford, Georgetown, and USC—and they know what it takes to stand out.
Our broad network also ensures that CollegeAdvisor students always have the support they need. No matter what questions your family has about the college admissions process, our team will have the answers.
How we work
At CollegeAdvisor.com, we understand that every student is different. That’s why we work with each family to build a personalized college application strategy tailored to their needs.
We match every student with their own personalized advising team, including 1-2 of our Admissions Experts and former Admissions Officers. Through one-on-one meetings over video chat, our experts work directly with each student to help them build their extracurricular profile, create a college list, draft their essays, and more.
Our students also have access to additional resources through the broader CollegeAdvisor network. This includes our Essay Review Team, Interview Prep Team, and more. Our students can also arrange for an “Application Dress Rehearsal,” where our Admissions Officers will read their complete application and offer feedback designed to mirror the holistic review process.

How Admissions Officers Read Transcripts Review:
Very helpful and told me important information, such as what classes I should take in high school that support my interests, what admissions officers are looking for, etc.
Avoid This Company At All Costs
This company offers a ten day refund in their contract only and refuses to budge off of that no matter how bad your experience with the individual advisors assigned to you later really are. In most cases, ten days isn’t even enough time to schedule an actual meeting with a counselor, let alone evaluate their competence, fit, and commitment to following through on the promised deliverables in the contract.
In our case, our advisor never actively initiated contact with us. Never. The only interactions came after we reached out with questions - which defeats the very premise of “an advisor.” If you don’t know what the college admissions process even involves, how would you know what to ask an advisor for?
Additionally, our advisor spent most of her time in the meetings we did have tellious about her journey. She told us about how she got into college and eventually Georgetown. She told us about how she was applying for law school. All of which was nice - I’m excited for her - but that’s not why I paid $5K for an advisor.
The last meeting we had with our counselor, I specifically asked what we should be doing right now to move our admissions efforts forward. Her advice?
Study for the ACT and keep working on good grades in high school.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but charging $5K for that advice seems like a failure of this program.
Perhaps most importantly, the contract clearly states that the advisor will develop “a personalized roadmap” to guide you through the admissions process. After six months with no actual initiated meetings and no mention of any personalized roadmap, I asked for a refund.
College Advisors “success manager” said that was our fault for not interacting with the counselor - shifting the responsibility for driving the advising on to a parent who hired an advisor because he didn’t know where to start and onto a kid who couldn’t reasonably know where to start.
I explained all of this multiple times to the company in an attempt to get them to acknowledge that their counselor had failed to deliver any meaningful service. At no point would the company agree to any failure on the part of the counselor. Every interaction sought to blame me or my daughter for not doing enough.
At one point, the customer service manager told me that my day had access to the counselor’s calendar and could have scheduled a meeting anytime, but never did.
That “blame the customer” and “defend your contract irrespective of the facts” approach is fundamentally evil for a company charging parents thousands for a “platinum advising service.”

I highly recommend College Advisor due to their great resources and people. My advisor, Cliff-Simon, was an absolute lifesaver! He was incredibly proactive and ensured everything was completed efficiently, always staying on top of deadlines. He played a huge role in improving my resume and was super helpful in guiding me through the college application process, especially since I had no prior experience and was juggling everything a bit late. His support made a huge difference, and I'd highly recommend him to anyone needing guidance.
Great Experience and Great Advisors
I’m incredibly grateful for the support I received throughout the college process. The help with my essays was especially great, and I truly felt supported every step of the way. Elyse and Theos were amazing and helped me so much. I couldn’t have done this without them.

From the beginning Cheshet was a very helpful helping my son navigate through the college application and selection process. It was a journey to find the right school for him and ultimately we are very happy with his final choice both academically and athletically all her advice was super helpful.

Bria was absolutely Amazing
I don't think I could have accomplished what I have without Bria. She was an amazing advisor, and helped teach me practically everything about college admissions. She responded quickly, gave great feedback, and was willing to help with anything my family needed to learn about the college process. She was a huge factor into my acceptance into an Ivy League, and I credit her with teaching me about the college process and how to navigate it.
Thanks Bria!

I started College Advisor toward the end of my sophomore year of high school, and it has been an incredible experience. Every advisor I have worked with has been extremely kind and genuinely dedicated to helping me strengthen my résumé and navigate the college application process.
Specifically, my advisors Stephen Irving and Jamiere Abney have truly made this entire process worthwhile. Most high school students would agree that the application process is very stressful, but both Stephen and Jamiere have supported me every step of the way, from brainstorming supplemental essays to simply talking through my concerns.
I look forward to our meetings because I feel comfortable expressing my worries, knowing that all of my questions will be answered. Honestly, it is absolutely worth it.
Great People, Great Expertise
My CollegeAdvisor team aided me through each details and misconceptions during the college admission process, ultimately turned a stressful and somewhat chaotic experience into a journey that's more concrete, manageable, and fruitful. CollegeAdvisor really ensures that high school juniors and seniors can explore their future options with confidence and sufficient supports.
College Advisor Experience
My experience on college advisor has been very positive so far. In the few sessions I have had, my college advisor has guided me through potential schools that fit my interests, potential majors suitable to me, and has helped me organize the information needed for my college applications. My advisor has also given me many resources and advice on SAT study preparation. I highly recommend signing up with a college advisor!
Anja is Excellent!
I requested a switch from my initial advisor because she did not seem to remember what we had discussed in previous meetings. When I was assigned to Anja it felt like she already knew me. She has been pleasant to work with and is very knowledgeable. She immediately took value in the things I told her and actually reviewed my documents.
onboarding Process
my onboarding process with Brian Park is not professional. Unfortunately, I feel that the experience has not met those expectations, and overall, I have not felt well supported throughout this process. Being advised to find another college specialist and the overall lack of consistent communication has left me feeling that the customer service provided does not align with what I know and expect
