This health insuramce is bullshit the under deliver where you send email or what so ever they dont respond you have to call them inorder to see action or people doing things which is bad because they don't have good service they only know how to charge high costs camd faulty stuff on their end they try to find reason to charge a customer on irrelevant stuff even when they are at fault if I had known I wouldn't use thus insurance

Be very careful and always record your phone calls with TK, they say one thing on the phone and when you go to their office in person to confirm it they say another thing. Untrustworthy.
They are not trustable by word only by letter.
This happened today in TK Office in Berlin.
Their reply reveals their true character, what number shall I call, reveal yourself, are you a human or just a TL bot? Today I spent already 2 hours in phone listening to a recorded message. Be serious no more lies.

Tk health insurance might be working well for German people. But I assure you that if you don't speak German and you live half of the year outside Germany you should absolutely avoid them. My two last invoices were of 600€ & 800€ because I had injured my knee playing volleyball, had to do exams, injections and physiotherapy. From the 600€, I got 150€ back from them. From the 800€ I got 200€ back. I pay 300€/months to them and I almost didn't get any other issues in 5 years.

There is an calculation to be made and only it would take maximum 1 hour. I am waiting from Monday to them to call me back. Everyday one or two times I am calling TK but nobody put me through to the related department and from the department nobody calls me back. Today Thursday afternoon.

I would like to highligt how good the English speaking TK support is! As a foreigner it is very important to have such a good assistance without knowledge of German language. The waiting time for the phone call answer was very short. The lady was very polite and helpful. She provided perfect support, answered all my questions and offered solutions, and my problem was resolved. I even did more than I expected! This is my first experience with TK and it was great! Thank you very much! I can definitely recomment the English speaking TK support.

I am extremely impressed with TK's customer support. Their response times for phone calls are consistently quick, and they always ensure language accessibility by finding English-speaking representatives when needed. As a foreigner living in Germany, this level of service is truly refreshing and makes navigating the healthcare system much easier.
While their service is outstanding overall, the only suggestion for improvement would be to offer all documentation in English. Nevertheless, TK's commitment to customer service excellence sets a high standard among German health insurance providers.

Moving to a different country is difficult enough without companies like this taking advantage of you and treating you like you're an idiot.
They are quite happy to financially sink you if you clearly don't earn enough. More interested in the short few months they can get their $$$ than thinking about the long term $ if they applied common sense to the situation, but no.
I submitted forms to arrange automatic payments via their website inbox system (which is down or fails half of the time). I received an automatic response informing me my message had been received and would be replied to if needed. Nothing came for months - and if you're new to Germany, you quickly learn that MONTHS is how long it takes all these official bodies/companies to get back to you, so it's nothing unusual.
Suddenly I have a physical letter in my mailbox from bailiffs claiming I haven't paid TK and that they will be coming to collect the total sum??? Turns out they have been emailing me (I received nothing at all and check my junk mail every few days) to say there was a problem with the form I submitted. So with no response to their alleged "emails", they chose not to text my phone, ring my phone, or send a letter to my address, but go straight down the route of sending a threatening letter and bailiffs? What a terrific company.
For extra special treatment, they have added several "late fees" to the sums they are demanding.
Edit: And for those saying they have great experience with the English-language side of their business, I'm at a loss. Several times I have requested English speaking communications and I have been ignored each time. They refuse to speak to me in English. Their website also offers an "English version", but once you try to access your account it reverts to German again.

This was the worst experience ever. They deliberately withheld information from me in order to delay my compensation, even after I was diagnosed by three different doctors and forced to leave my job for over two months. I called their customer service multiple times, but no one ever provided me with the full information I needed and continued to then present me problems via email only but when I called they did not give me further info.
This, of course, delayed the process and ultimately made it impossible for me to obtain what was rightfully mine—despite presenting three different medical certificates from three different doctors.
I did not feel supported or protected by TK, even though they should be on the side of their customers in times of need.

Deutsch:
English:
I have paid a lot of money to Techniker Krankenkasse for years, but received absolutely no real benefit from it. Getting an appointment with a specialist is nearly impossible – you have to wait at least 6 months, if at all. Several of my necessary surgeries were rejected, with the excuse that I needed confirmation from doctors who work directly with TK. Of course, those doctors refused. I suffered for years with serious breathing problems, and TK refused to cover the surgery I urgently needed. In the end, I had to pay privately just to be able to breathe normally again.
All those years of contributions did nothing to improve my health. Instead, it feels like TK only wants your money. Recently, they even demanded an additional €700 from me due to a so-called calculation error. Just one week after their letter, I received a notice from the Hauptzollamt Berlin to collect the money!
For me, TK is a disastrous insurance company – unreliable, unfair, and completely disrespectful toward their members. They smile at you in the office when they take your money, but the moment you actually need help, they do everything possible to reject your case. Absolutely shameful. I strongly advise everyone: do not insure yourself with TK.

I need to point out how great their english speaking consultants are, nice, friendly and helpfull.
I was talking to Sebastian and Saska and they navigated me patiently and have been really helpfull. I would always recommend this part of TK service to people who are not sure in their german speaking skills.

The process as a self-employed takes ages. I still did not get my health insurance (wainting for more than 6 months in the process). The costumer support does not answer my email. Just does not work for me.

I strongly advise students not to use TK’s services. They charged me a total of €432 for April, May, and June even though I was not in Germany during that time. I only arrived at the mid of June, and my blocked account was activated in early July after my arrival.
During those three months, I was in my home country and did not attend any classes, either online or in person. Despite explaining this clearly via phone and email, TK did not understand my situation.
As a student, this is a significant financial burden, and I find it very unfair. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend TK to other students.
Thank you for your past service, but I will be switching to another health insurance provider.

I need to admin that the phone support in english is amazing. I really felt they cared and wanted to help me with my case. I am more than grateful for their help. I know I pay for it but still sometimes you need to deal with really unprofessional people, however not with TK.

Reply from Die Techniker
I contacted the people in the membership department and one of them was an unprofessional person and tried to hang up the phone several times without any solution and I asked him to connect me to the manager but he refused because he speaks English unprofessionally. Since two months or more I am connecting this department to solve a family memebership issue, everyone transfer the call to another without having anythings and I have to repeat myself again and again.

I've been at the TK years ago, left to another country and back with them since 12 years now. Honestly I could call their hotline only to, on a bad day, increase my trust in the humane race. The general services, I don't know as I never tried any other Krankenkasse, but the hotline is just amazing and largely desserves my 5 stars.

Avoid this health insurance. They claim they didn’t receive my tax returns, and started charging me 1500eu per month for health insurance. It took me MONTHS to solve it. Once I call their customer service - they immediately hang up once I ask for someone English speaking. When I went to a physical office, they do nothing there, call their colleagues and saying there is nothing they can do. It took me months and countless hours to sort this out. But then they slammed me with ‘late fees’. 500 eu in late fees, which technically wasn’t even my fault. And once I paid that, they sent another bill for 280 eu. When I asked what is it for - nobody knew. Just that if they say it - I must pay it. Honestly this insurance was stealing from me in the broad daylight. Avoid it at all costs!!!

I have had nothing but difficulty since arriving in Germany with TK. Eventually I got them to accept me as a client. They sent me a bill for over 1000 euros in back payments. I sent them three prescriptions for expenses I incurred during that time and they refused to pay because they were “private prescriptions”. But I’m still expected to back pay them for that same period. News for them, I won’t and I don’t care what they do to me.
One of their staff also called me crazy and an idiot and gave me a fake name. When I called back another staff member pretended that no name from the last staff member was left.
This is an abusive company that can’t be trusted. They are liars, manipulative, abusive frauds. Avoid at all costs.
