Samlet Rd, Llansamlet
I called Halfords and spoke to XXX, he advised me the earliest they can look at the vehicle was Thursday 10am, I took the car to them 8:30 on that morning. I was told, “you will have a call later this morning, Tobell will authorise the claim and we will call you for collection” as I had received no call by 2pm I made a call and was told, I was next after the car with the brakes, I had no reason not to believe them. I made a further chase up call at 4:30, and was told that the car still hasn’t been looked at, I then asked, will it be looked at today. Yes definitely we will call you before 5:30.
I am sure by now you also guessed, no phone call materialised. I then called 8:30 Friday morning as I was promised a call back by 5:30 Thursday evening. Funnily enough, my car is still next to be done, we will call you later this morning. I decided to walk over to the garage on my lunch break, and was greeted by XXX, I asked is my car going to be looked at today, yes it’s next. I laughed and advised him I’ve been told this since yesterday, but we told you yesterday it may run into today as we are busy, I then replied, I assure you nobody has told me that at all. This was our diary for yesterday, I am not interested in the diary, if you book my vehicle in for a check at 10am then it should be adhered too.
I had a call at 4pm on the Friday afternoon, we have cleared the engine management code for you, it was a faulty battery warning. I’ve taken it for a motorway ride and its working fine and your battery is full. Fantastic I thought, we are now awaiting the roller assembly parts for the doors and we will fit them and get the claim authorised, bring it back next Wednesday and we will sort it as the parts are due in then.
I took the vehicle back Tuesday evening ready for Wednesday morning, I asked this time, will my car be in for 2 days again? Highly likely, if I am made aware upfront then I have no problems. I waited until 4pm to contact them on an update, the parts haven’t come in yet, will be here tomorrow. Thursday came, I had to chase them yet again. I called them lunch time to be told, one roller has come in, the other is due around 2pm. I have authorised the claim with Tobell so it’s a case of fitting and we will call you, another phone call I had to make at 4:30 as I hadn’t heard a thing. The part still hadn’t turned up and would be done tomorrow, I asked again, is the claim all sorted with Tobell? Yes all sorted.
Friday came, and more chasing!!! I called for an update at lunchtime to be told we are just fitting them now. I finally received a call back at 2:30, it was XXX, he had called Tobell who had refused the claim under “wear and tear as the rollers had seized” but it’s ok as we have all the parts and we can do it for you, the cost is £382 + VAT. I was taken aback at the start as XXX assured me Thursday the claim was successful, and it was done. I instantly rung Tobell and spoke to a gentleman, who was very dismissive and said, Halfords have told us your parts have seized and not covered under warranty. I called Halfords straight back and spoke to Steve again, who assured me he never told them that, he told them they are worn.
He told me the parts alone were £174.00 each, I immediately rung ford for a price on this part which was £101.18 inclusive of VAT.
I went to get the vehicle to take it to a trusted mechanic and advised him what Halfords had said about the seized parts, he laughed as did I and said, if they are seized then we wouldn’t be able to open the door, which we can. Driving on the M4 on the weekend my engine management light came on, went into limp mode again, the exact same problem as two weeks ago and had to wait four hours for a recovery truck to get me home. So, the problem clearly wasn’t fixed!!!
My car has today gone into my local garage for a diagnosis, there is NO Seized rollers, he put copper grease on the middle roller at the rear of the car and the door opens perfectly. And still does 1 month on..... My car was with him just 6 hours to rectify the problem. Which has cost me £60.00!!!!!!!!
Today I have received a bill for £1014 which is a result of an injector failing which HALFRAUDS failed to pick up on, instead just cleared the fault codes. PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS! They haven't got a clue
