AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!
Firstly - the process of arranging the visit was first class. Friendly, helpful and they tried hard to sort out an earlier appointment for our boiler issue.
Thats where the great service stops.
Engineer arrived, no tools in hand, my wife was on her own in the apartment, and his attitude made her feel extremely uncomfortable. She called me on speakerphone to see if his attitude changed ... it did. Slightly.
He turned on the boiler, let it boot up properly, listened to the gurgling noise, looked at the error code - had to call other engineers to ask what the error code meant - didn't really open up the boiler to check anything and then "condemned" the boiler on the spot telling us it a "corroded heat exchanger" and that Able Group would refuse to give a quote for its replacement until the building management company check the guttering [There is NO issue with the guttering]
He REMOVED the fuse from the boiler without telling us, and left.
Fast forward 24hour - had another guy into quote for a new boiler as given the attitude of the plumber from Able he wasnt interested in helping, and Able Group didnt want the business.
The new plumber was shocked that the fuse was removed without our knowledge or permission.
He refused to quote for a new boiler without first checking what the problem was. He spent 10 minutes performing basic checks and informed us that the Plumber from Able Group didnt even check the basics. It was a blocked condensate pipe - it took him 15 minutes to sort out .. and he was onsite for 45 minutes .... and was "embarrassed" to charge me a full hour for something that Able Group charged me £98 + VAT for each thirty minutes.
I very much hope this is the exception - but I would strongly advice anyone NOT to use ABLE GROUP - especially if you are a woman on your own!
