Dune Messiah
Author: Frank Herbert
"Empires do not suffer emptiness of purpose at the time of their creation. It is when they have become established that aims are lost and replaced by vague ritual."
Dune was one of my favorite books of 2024. I was incredibly impressed with how the storyline was put together. The world building made Dune one of the best Science Fiction books I have ever read.
My enthusiasm made me eager to read the other books in the desert world.
Dune Messiah is a novel where everything revolves around political games. The world building played no role in this book.
Little to nothing happened and I often felt incredibly bored.
Only the last chapter became interesting. A huge disappointment...
Trigger warnings:
Death, violence and grief

"The Political tensions in the Dune universe are escalating.. In fact, the entire storyline is all about politics. Any wrong observation or decision could have a fatal outcome.."

"I find the second part much less impressive than the first part. Everything that happens has a political undertone. In the first part there was much more attention for the world building."

"The first part of Dune is one of my all time favorite sci-fi books. I had high expectations for part two. Apart from many political games, very little happens. Very unfortunate."

"The storyline started so incredibly slow. At the end there were suddenly a few interesting chapters with a number of touching twists in it...
