Devil May Cry 4 is a singleplayer action game developed and published by Capcom. It is part of the Devil May Cry series and chronologically takes place after the events of Devil May Cry 2 and five years before Devil May Cry 5.

It was released in North America on July 8, 2008, followed by releases in Australasia, Europe and Japan on July 10, July 11 and July 24 respectively. It was later delisted from Steam on January 31, 2024.

Faster Loading

A shader logging debug tool was left in the game files, causing the game to take significantly longer to load in DX9.
Go to <path-to-game>\nativePC and delete shaderlog.slg

Better Frost Ice

This mod ports the better ice effects for Frosts from Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition.
Instructions

Issues fixed

Frequent crashes in DX10 mode

Copy the old dxgi.dll and d3d10.dll files into the game directory[4]
  1. Go to C:\Windows\winsxs and search for dxgi.dll and d3d10.dll.
  2. The correct dxgi.dll file was modified on 11/20/2010 or 11/21/2010 (depending on region) and is 496 KB.
  3. The correct d3d10.dll file was modified on 7/13/2009 or 7/14/2009 (depending on region) and is 0.98 MB.
  4. Copy both files into the game directory where the EXE files are located.
