Devil May Cry HD Collection is a game in the Devil May Cry series and includes remastered versions of Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition.
A controller is recommended as keyboard support is bare bones, and there is no mouse support in-game.
Devil May Cry 1 is missing some video effects (such as motion blur, depth of field) and has audio bugs.[2]
Devil May Cry 3 has various effects that are either weakened (such as motion blur, ghosting, and depth of field) or missing (such as Nevan's eye effects and Greed's iron maiden missing its glow effects) and textures lack transparency.[3][4] See DMC 3 HDC Fixer Pack AIO and DMCHD Collection Helix Mod for restoring most textures.

Video
Video Settings (main launcher).
- Some of the textures, Dante's bangs, Mission 7's Moon, Mission 20's demon world gate have been fixed.
- Many others have been replaced with textures taken from Devil May Cry 4, changing the look significantly.
- Most textures have been upscaled
- Many have been replaced with very different, and sometimes lower detail, textures[6]
Better Anisotropic Filtering
- All three games use 4x Anistropic Filtering, making textures appear blurry at oblique angles.
|
Enable 16x Anisotropic Filtering in the GPU control panel for dmc1.exe, dmc2.exe, and dmc3.exe.
|
Notes
- Arbitrary framerate values such as 144 FPS have not been tested but should be possible. Using 120 FPS as primary example for game logic stability.
- Physics puzzles get harder to solve (for example, the two spheres puzzle in Mission 16).

Setting the applications to use discrete graphics drivers
|
- For users who have dual Intel/NVIDIA GPU drivers
- Open Windows Settings (⊞ Win+I).
- Navigate to
System > Display > Graphics.
- In
Custom options for apps/Custom settings for applications, click Browse/Add Desktop App and add dmc1.exe, dmc2.exe, and dmc3.exe
- After adding the exe file, click
Options and set it to High Performance (GPU: AMD/NVIDIA...).
- Run the game.
|
|
Switching to the High-Performance NVIDIA Processor in the NVIDIA Control Panel
|
- Open the NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Go to Manage 3D settings → Global Settings.
- Set Preferred graphics processor to
High-performance NVIDIA Processor.
|
Run the game at screen refresh rate
- There are some issues to other users where the game is exceeding 60 FPS which causes the game to run too fast.
- Fullscreen mode defaults to 60 Hz even if the screen refresh rate is set higher than that.
|
Cap the frame rate via RTSS[10]
|
- Download and install RivaTuner Statistics Server.
- Run the program and add
dmc1.exe, dmc2.exe, and dmc3.exe.
- Set Framerate limit to
60 for all three EXEs.
- Run the game.
|
|
Cap the frame rate via NVIDIA Control Panel[11]
|
- Open the NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Go to Manage 3D settings → Program Settings and add
dmc1.exe, dmc2.exe, and dmc3.exe.
- Set Max Frame Rate to
60 FPS for all three EXEs.
- Run the game.
|
|
Cap the frame rate via AMD Software: Adrenaline Edition[12]
|
- Open the AMD Software: Adrenaline Edition.
- Go to Gaming → Games and manually add
dmc1.exe, dmc2.exe, and dmc3.exe.
- Select a game and head to Graphics.
- Scroll down to Radeon Chill.
- Enable it and set the Max FPS to
60 FPS for all three EXEs.
- Run the game.
|
|
Override refresh rate set by game[13]
|
- Download Devil May Cry HD Collection 3D Vision Fix.
- Extract the contents to the installation folder.
- Open
d3dx.ini and go to the [Device] section.
- Uncomment the line
;refresh_rate=60 by removing the ; from the line and change value to 120 or higher depending on the display's refresh rate.
|
Devil May Cry 2 crashing
|
Switch to Windowed/Borderless Windowed Mode[14]
|
- Open the DMC HDC Launcher → Settings.
- Set the Screen Mode to
Window/Borderless.
- Run the game.
|
Devil May Cry 3 text appearing irregularly (squished/glitchy/flickering)
- Mostly happens to AMD Graphics Drivers.
- Regular text and subtitles may appear with garbled text underneath.
|
For users who have NVIDIA as their secondary GPU driver
|
- Open Windows Settings (⊞ Win+I).
- Navigate to
System > Display > Graphics.
- In
Custom options for apps, click Browse and locate dmc3.exe
- After adding the exe file, click
Options and set it to High Performance (GPU: NVIDIA...).
- Run the game.
|
|
Use DXVK (more info here)[15]
|
- Download the latest
dxvk-xxx.tar.gz file and open it.
- Copy
dxgi.dll and d3d11.dll from x64 to <path-to-game>.
Notes
- If DMC HD Fix by Lyall is installed, it's safe to overwrite
d3d11.dll.
- Fixes all text issues.
- Also somehow fixes the frame drops.
- It can interfere with overlays from other applications such as Fraps, Bandicam, Steam Overlay, etc.
|
Enable compatibility mode in the properties of dmc3.exe and set it to Windows 7
|
|
Notes
- Only fixes the garbled artifacts, not the squished text.

Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Button Prompts Mod
- Restores all textures back to their PlayStation 2 versions, removing upscaling artifacts, fixing transparency and restoring removed details.
- Recommended to use with DMC3 Subtitle Alignment and Grammar Fix and Mission 20 Sky Fix.
- Should be installed before any other modifications that replace textures (like the one below).
- A compilation of fixes by shu_bham and cheburat0r for Devil May Cry 3 in the HD Collection. Includes restorations of hair transparency for all three characters, Dante's coat textures, and Lady's bandages from the PlayStation 2 version, makes Dante's and Vergil's face models resemble their cutscene models while fixing their teeth, fixes the moon texture in Mission 7 and the pixelated Hellgate Eye texture in Mission 20, restores Nevan's eyes and the lighting effects from Greed's iron maiden.[18]
- Can be used with the DDMK by extracting the files to
<path-to-game>\data\dmc3\GData.afs (a folder created upon launching DMC3 with DDMK installed, or a folder that can be manually created), or by manually packing the files into dmc3-0.nbz with 7-zip.
- Recommended to use with DMC3 Subtitle Alignment and Grammar Fix and Mission 20 Sky Fix.
The original mods included in this compilation:
- Changes the look of the main menu screen by making the background black instead of white.
- Replaces nearly all menus in DMC3 with widescreen versions[19]
- Replaces the Style part of Dante's HUD with one closely inspired by DMC4's Style HUD for better support of Style Switcher play in DDMK: the game's original HUD can be retained by not copying over the file
id100.pac.
- Does not replace the Bloody Palace results or tutorial messages with widescreen versions, and some of the menus such as the Mission Clear images and map cannot be changed.
- While most of DMC3's cutscenes are in engine, some were prerendered with in-game assets and were not re-rendered or upscaled for the HD release
- Decreases the jaggedness of these scenes to better upscale for HD displays while decreasing file size of the movies.
- Install by extracting the files to
<path-to-game>\data\dmc3\Video and overwriting
- The DMC1 pre-rendered movie has been upscaled to 720p.
- Install by extracting the files to

- Provides updated texture injection and includes toggles for cutscene black bars, depth of field, bloom, ghosting, etc., with rebindable keys.
- This pack includes high-res menu artwork, high-res moon, Dante hair transparency fix, and launcher fix for DMC3. Details about the hi-res artwork and texture changes can be found in this Steam discussion thread.
- Does not fix the lack of texture transparency for Lady's bandage.
- The part of the mod that enables the toggles conflicts with DDMK.
