Temu taking ZERO responsibility
forced to write to CEO second time:
Dear Mr Mikitani
I feel forced to write to you a second time.
I find it quite outrageous that a member of your senior customer service team Christopher has doubled-down on a response that I received from about 10 emails ago placing sole blame on Rakuten, while Temu has taken ZERO responsibility
I'm a member of the public and in good faith I go to a website like Rakuten which claims to have 15% Cashback from Temu. Here is a copy of that button:
There is proof that I've clicked the button from Rakuten. I have been awarded cashback before. You can see below that I was awarded on 18th Oct (still waiting for the 6th Oct):
However there are 5 purchases that I have made on Temu that, not only have I not been awarded the 15%, but they haven't even migrated onto the dashboard of the Rakuten app. Here are those purchases:

• 6th Oct, £28.99, PO-210-18252294474872710 (this one has migrated to Rakuten but showing as pending)

As you can see one of them dates back over 4 months!!
I make that a total of £191.89. So I calculate the 15% cashback you owe me to be £28.78, so your £10 consolation prize is not ok. In fact for all the hassle, I would expect this at a minimum to be ON TOP of what you owe me for all the endless chasing that YOU as a company should have been doing
Why have I not been awarded the amount for those 5 purchases? I have in the past. There was a purchase I made in October and I was awarded the cashback. Why was I awarded the 15% that time and not these other five times? To place blame on Rakuten is egregious!
You have made a CO-AGREEMENT with Rakuten. At some point Temu agreed to be on the platform Rakuten. It is a mutually beneficial agreement that you & Rakuten BOTH make money from. Right now, it’s at OUR expense. I am a member of the public. I have put good faith where I choose to purchase from. I have chosen Temu several times to purchase from and not some other sound platform because of the cashback promise. YOU are CO-REPONSIBLE with Rakuten for not HONOURING this PROMISE! I would have gone elsewhere to purchase what I needed to buy had I not been getting that cash back.
Plus I've spent hours chasing all of this with you & Rakuten. I shouldn’t be the one chasing this. YOU should be on the phone to Rakuten and go “listen, what is up? Why is this customer not getting the money that was promised to him through your app that we agreed to be part of on your platform. We expect our customer’s purchases to be honoured”. Have you done this? Why not?
Temu, together with Rakuten are making money off the members of the public fraudulently. This is not OK.
I'm deciding what steps to take next. I will be posting once again my review on Trustpilot again. I am considering if this is not sorted out properly of taking this to Trading Standards, the government platform for companies who are fraudulent, plus I found another website that deals with international Internet fraud which I will also be pursuing. I really hope I don’t have to go down these routes if possible as it is time-consuming but will do so if this is not sorted and an apology. I am also considering going directly through my bank aswell.
I also suggest that you have some quality control about the platforms like Rakuten that you CHOOSE as a company to be part of and ensure that these function properly. Is there anyone in your staff that deals directly with this? Rakuten are suggesting this is to do with your Affiliate Program and the last agent I spoke to said they would be referring it to them. Have they? Surely someone in your company KNOWS that these are not working. Rakuten works seamlessly with other companies – why not Temu? You can see in the screenshot I sent you that I didn’t have to chase any of the other compamies I got cashback from (Debenhams, Evri, Just Eat, Argos, Currys). Why is Temu the ONLY company I’m chasing cashback from?
If these partnerships are not functioning, then do us all a favour and come off Rakuten altogether, so some other poor unfortunate person doesn’t have to use part of their annual holiday to chase all of this
