Taking too long

I used to love Zooplus and still appreciate that I can find products that I cannot get elsewhere, such as calming cat food and pheromones. But whereas an order used to arrive within days, it is now taking weeks. It is unpredictable and that's not acceptable.

Service department hasn't a clue about 5 year warranty

My Whirlpool 6th Sense Dryer had a problem about a year ago that was expertly serviced at the time. The problem has, however, recurred. The dryer stops and delivers a message that the water tank is full. "Remove tank and empty water. START to resume." But the water tank is empty. So, naturally, I tried to schedule an engineer to come out again and service the machine, as this machine has a 5-year service and 10-year parts warranty. That's where the saga begins.

I searched for the number online and was directed to 0818 313 413, which is a number for Hotpoint. There they auto-ask a number of questions. Have you had a service call in the past month, which brand is your machine, is your machine more than 2 years old, do you have an extended service contract? My answers were Whirlpool, no, yes, no. I was put through to a Whirlpool service manager who asked for my address, name and model. He first could not find my records, then said my machine was out of warranty. I explained that it was not, as my machine has a 5-year service warranty. He said Whirlpool does not do 5-year service warranties, only 2 year and there was nothing he could do. I asked to speak to a manager. He said that was not possible. He gave me an alternate number to call. He said it was direct to Whirlpool in Ireland 01 616 1777. He asked me to hold while he checked on something, and the line went dead.

So I called the second number and had the same series of questions to answer. The service manager there said my machine was out of warranty. I told him I was looking at the Whirlpool warranty registration website and it had a choice of 2 year or 5 year service warranty registrations. The drop-down menu on eligible machines had mine listed. I told him that, and he said I'd have to call Whirlpool directly. The number he gave me to call was 01 6161777, the exact number I had just called. He said I should call that number again and say my machine was less than 2 years old, which would put me through to the right department.

So I called that number again and chose the less than 2 years old option. Once again, I was told my machine was out of warranty. He'd put me through to the manager. The manager gave me a new number to call, which she said was specifically for Whirlpool Ireland. It was 180035312300 followed by 800, and I was to select option 2. I didnt twig at the time, but the number I dialled was 123.ie, an insurance company.

In total desperation, we called the dealer and explained. He said I should have said I have an extended service warranty because, essentially, it is included with the model we bought. He confirmed we have 5 years of service. How would I have known that? He has kindly offered to contact his rep and arrange service directly. Let's see if that happens.

Oh, and BTW. Whirlpool has no way for you to check your registered appliances and their warranty information on its website. So you have no proof that you registered your product unless you get a confirmation email, which doesn't always arrive.

I have 5 Whirlpool appliances. Heaven forbid I have to ever go through this again.

I bought a Whirlpool induction hob…

I bought a Whirlpool induction hob because it came with a free set of pots as I didn't have any suitable ones. I filled out the forms online. A month later, I checked by email, as the pots had not arrived and I couldn't cook anything on the hob other than fits in a small pot -- the only induction pot I had. No response. Two months later, I checked again by email, and it bounced. Tried a different email address with no response. We went back to the dealer who re-applied with our details. We were to get a confirmation email, but nothing arrived in email or spam. I bought a cheap set of pots on sale. The dealer checked it again, then went to the Whirlpool salesman and complained. Several weeks later, I got my pots. How can you offer free pots for an induction hob and deliver them months later? We could have starved in that time.

I noticed there was another review with exactly the same issue. I like the hob a lot, but this offer was badly executed.

Review of EZO EV Charging

App won't work at the charge point

The only charge point at Westport Quay is Ezo (formerly Easy Go). One day, the app was Easy Go, the next day, the app branding was completely different, and I couldn't find it on my phone. Only when I heard on the radio days later that they had rebranded did I know where to search for the new app.

I fed the app some money, and after a few attempts, I managed to charge for 30 minutes, after which it disconnected my car.

The next time, I had topped up the credit and now have €26 in the app. But at the charge point, I couldn't connect to the app at all. It kept telling me connectivity was low. So I gave up and used my credit card. The same thing happened to my husband on a subsequent day. And the same again today to me. At least we have the option of using a credit card. But I'll bet they won't refund my €26 credit.

PS Note: Thank you for your advice. I wrote to the support group and asked for a refund. They complied within minutes of my request. Many thanks. I am very pleased and impressed with your support team.

Stick vacuum a pleasure to use

When my expensive vacuum failed during the holidays and I learned the replacement part was on backorder, I rushed out to buy an inexpensive stick vacuum for the interim. Woodies had a special on a Black+Decker Powerseries+ so I bought it.

I LOVE IT! It's my favourite vacuum ever. Lightweight and easily maneuverable, it offers two speeds and shifts between them automatically sensing when you are on carpet or floor. It feels like it is self-propelled so it's easy to push. It also has a light that shines on the floor so you can see the dirt ahead of you. And the battery is removable to charge so you don't have to hang the entire machine on the wall charger. I hope it lasts a lifetime.

Chase used to be wonderful

Chase used to be wonderful. If a had an issue, it was usually resolved with efficiency and grace. No longer. I was charged a $25 monthly fee for a savings account which supposedly dipped below the threshold for it to be free. I asked them to point out when that happened and they got back to me with an offer of a savings account that only costs $5 a month. REALLY? $5 or $25 for holding my money and giving me virtually zero interest? What's with having to pay a bank to keep my money? I am livid. And I am so out of there.

BYD Seal is beautiful and a pleasure to drive.

We had seen the Seal at the Nevo show at the RDS, where we test-drove another eV but they didn't have a BYD Seal to test. On a subsequent visit to Cork we asked the BYD Dealer there to bring a Seal to our hotel for us to test, which they did! Great service.

We loved the car and promptly ordered one. It took a couple of months to get the colour and model we wanted, but they delivered it to our home in Mayo. They took care of all the SEAI paperwork. There are very few extras to choose so the price ends up lower than some other models similarly equipped.

We love the car. The seats are comfortable and easily adjustable for perfect positioning. The range on the charge is very good. The pickup is like a rocket ship and the handling and stability on the road are remarkable. It feels solid and well-built. The main controls are good so you don't have to search for them on a screen. And you can ask her to adjust controls for you by saying, "Hi BYD, turn down the volume."

We are delighted with our decision. Thanks, BYD!

Very disappointing

My Dyson stopped working 1 day before the warranty expired. I tried calling but couldn't get through as it was Christmas Eve. So I sent an email explaining the problem. They responded after the holidays that they couldn't help me because it was a UK-made product and they only deal with products labelled for Ireland (I bought it from Harvey Norman in Ireland). I'd have to call a special number for service.

When I finally got through, they diagnosed the problem as being the main body and cyclone failure and said the part was back-ordered. In May, I finally got a notice that the part was now available. It's now June and still no part.

I expected Dyson to be a superior brand. It has left me completely disenchanted. I will never buy a Dyson product again.


Update June 14, 2024
I was flabbergasted when after posting this review a Dyson service rep called me and said they were mailing me the replacement part free of charge. They must have seen the trail of contacts and emails in my customer profile.

A day later the part arrived. The battery had to be removed from the old part and installed on the new as did the canister, but when completed it worked!

Thank you Trust Pilot for lighting a fire under the corporate machine, and thank you Dyson for standing by your product and brand.

I ordered a pair of jeans during their…

I ordered a pair of jeans during their massive sale. They were out of the length I ordered and said there was a problem with the website and cancelled my order. I then re-entered my order for a different length and they arrived the next day and were perfect. Better length than the one I initially ordered. My money for the first order was in my account that day. So overall a very good experience.

It's only because their website did not show as sold out that I took off one star.
