I was thinking, as my magnum opus, I should share it here much later, but y'all are so nice to me so I'll give it to you now ♡

The Synagogue that was protested last night in Queens was hosting a real estate event.

They were selling stolen Palestinian land.

You're gonna hear a lot about how this protest is "antisemitic" or how it hurt people's feelings but I need you all to know that the counter protestors were chanting "We love ICE"

Fuck these fascists, fuck their synagogues, and fuck their feelings. Keep protesting the selling of stolen land.

can non natives stop acting surprised and performatively jokey "uhh what lol!" about ice going after native americans. theyve been doing this for years and it ramped up last year and i had to hear all the stupid "uhhhh where will u deport them to 😜 silly republicans!" comments as if its not always been about detaining torturing murdering using as slave labor scattering communities through fear and intimidation etc. be an adult and act with maturity please. its not quirky or confusing its directly in line with americas racism and white supremacy to make sure native americans are eradicated

I think it's notable also particularly in the Minneapolis context that of the 6 or so (US) Native people I have heard of being detained in the past few days there, at least half were unhoused. This context is important esp given the recent history (I can't remember the year but starting sometime when I lived there from 2016-2020) of police violently dismantling encampments of Native unhoused people. the Native population in Minneapolis is like 5% but Native people make up almost half the unsheltered homeless population, iirc. the ICE harassment of tribal citizens is not of course limited to unhoused Natives but I think it's important to see the connections of how these developments are connected to previous and ongoing violence against unhoused people

I've mentioned multiple times about how Congress wanting to repeal Section 230 is going to be devastating for fandoms, but I should probably go into more detail about that.

First, you should know what Section 230 is.

as Wikipedia states:

"In the United States, Section 230 is a section of the Communications Act of 1934 that was enacted as part of the Communications Decency Act of 1996, which is Title V of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, and generally provides immunity for online computer services with respect to third-party content generated by their users. At its core, Section 230(c)(1) provides immunity from liability for providers and users of an "interactive computer service" who publish information provided by third-party users: No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider."

Basically, this law protects websites from constant lawsuits over user content, and thus allows user-generated content to flourish, and that's largely how fandoms have been able to exist.

Now, I think we're ALL aware of a very certain large videogame company who starts with the letter N who's not only hyper-protective of their IP's, but generally goes against the very fans that enjoy their works.

Nintendo is practically the Disney of videogame companies, and there have been numerous cases of Nintendo taking down fanworks that range from "adult only" content, to also safe and harmless fan-content like fanart in some cases.

Nintendo game fandoms have been able to survive despite Nintendo's attempts to take down fan-content because of the existence of Section 230. If they send a C&D to take something down, it's on the individual user and not the platform itself. If one goes down, the rest is usually safe. Now you can imagine what would happen if Section 230 was repealed and Nintendo was given the power to sue entire websites instead of just the individual user…

Nintendo game fandoms would probably go extinct at that point...

Not only this would harm most videogame fandoms, but it ALSO harm videogame preservation efforts. That would mean A LOT of obscure games and media would vanish and become lost media forever…

I'm not trying to fearmonger, but I think it's REALLY important to know what the effects of the Section 230 repeal (and also the 18 "kids online safety" bills) would do to various aspects of the internet.

Names look familiar? They are the usual suspects/big supporters of this type of BS (age/id verifications, ridding the 230, Etc.).

☆ If any of these Senators represent you, CALL them; tell them what they are doing doesn't represent you, that it is a threat to your 1st amendment rights. When (if) midterm voting comes primary their asses OUT! They need a reminder that WE voted them in, therefore we can vote them OUT.

Next is the US House bill, H.R. 6746, aka Sunset to Reform Section 230 Act.

This Bill is sponsored by Rep. Harriet M. Hagerman [Republican. WY-at large].

The bill currently has no cosponsors at this time. Could be bc we are calling our House Rep and they don't want to risk it. Idk exact reasons.

Regardless let's call our House Reps and tell them to vote NO.

And ppl of Montana, give this Rep. Hageman lots of calls and emails.
