Possibly the lowest stakes hot take ever, but the Bartlets should have had pets. I know why they didn't, because working with animals on set is HARD, I get it. But give me a dog or a cat, maybe inspired by the Clinton's cat, Socks! And no, the animals at the farm in Manchester don't count ;)
Ohhh yes, yes fully agreed. I think a dog would have been fun and Jed would have really enjoyed showing off tricks? But honestly I love a cat for them, or two cats. Dead Irish Writers and the cat monologue CJ goes on except Abbey, also tipsy, offers her own cat? And CJ has to confess that that cat is the reason sheβs not a fan of cats (it keeps scratching her! She doesnβt know what sheβs doing wrong!)
hello! west wing thoughts: I am thinking about Ellie, and what if Vic Faison (fruit fly guy) was a trans woman? She could be out to Ellie before the wedding, but not sure if she's ever going to be ready to come out publicly and transition. Or maybe she's not out to Ellie before the wedding or maybe she isn't even out to herself before the wedding. I think there is a lot of interesting potential for their relationship and how the two of them understand themselves as people. also, this would be tricky for two people who do not enjoy the spotlight! (though maybe Vic is more open to the spotlight once she's living as her authentic self! that'd be interesting too!) (I am continuing to refer to her as Vic for simplicity's sake. Vic is a great name for a woman imo but she might want to change it.)

Oh but I love this. Likeβ¦ Ellie whoβs always considered herself a lesbian, and never told anyone, and has no reasonable explanation for why sheβs surprisingly comfortable feeling this attraction to Vic? Sheβs never been into a single man before in her LIFE and itβs confusing and sheβs both kind of upset by it and kind of relieved cause at least thatβll please her parents. And then Vic gathers up the courage to tell her! And itβs such a part of their decision to get married, because Vicβs not ready to come out yet and Ellieβs not ready to come out yet but they Love each other and theyβre okay making the decision for people to assume theyβre a regular cishet couple for now. They have the White House wedding neither of them actually wanted, they both kind of hate it but it helps that Ellie knows exactly who sheβs marrying and it helps that at least after this they can go back to relatively obscure lives and decide on their own terms when to make breaking news again. (And they will! Eventually! But it might be a while, and theyβre both okay with that.)

I think this would be pre-canon but definitely Jedβs already in politics. Maybe shortly before or just after he becomes governor of NH, and this is the beginning of the βhis wife bosses his aroundβ rumors that come and go throughout his career. Thereβs a pic in a local paper of him carrying Abbeyβs purse while she carries various shopping bags. Jed is having a perfectly nice time getting lots of kisses (and he just Generally Benefits from Abbey being in a good mood, hehe) and then the next day itβs on TVβ¦ a small price to pay for new shoes and plenty of kisses π
Oh, this is so adorable?? I can so clearly see Jed having absolutely no qualms about holding his wife's purse while she shops, happy to chat with her as she browses, and then he gets home and a couple days pass and people are talking about the photos, claiming that Governor Bartlet is "whipped" or somehow emasculated by--holding a bag? He'd be so annoyed and so frustrated that that's what people apparently care about, rather than real issues.
It's politely suggested to him that he not go shopping with his wife the next time she goes out, or if he does, that he does not hold her purse. Jed does not take that suggestion to heart in the slightest.

for reallllll sorry to the haters but that man is never not in I Love My Wife mode!!! I can see him letting Abbey pick their dates especially when heβs really busy at the office heβs like letβs do things you want to do. And she takes him to some art gallery or something stereotypically feminine and once againnn his staff is like Please Do Less. and Jed has never not done The Absolute Most so he gets a couple pollsters to demonstrate his popularity with women 18-54 has SKYROCKETED. His staff never complains about him and Abbey againβ¦ to his face, at least!!
that muppet post reminded me, most if not all of the main muppets have twitter pages. Fav has gotta be Miss Piggys, which is filled with selfies and vaguely uplifting text thats also egocentric. all the comments are people complimenting her and being like βYAS QUEENβ
