I think if the Angel finale came out in this era, the internet would've hated it (or at least rabidly fight about it) for the open-ended nature of it and I am so glad it was such a contained experience for me.

Fighting back against the powerful, even when it's a fight that is never won, is the most important choice we make. Whether it's the smallest act of kindness or an overwhelming battle, we choose everyday.

I learned so much from Not Fade Away and I keep the message of that episode forever as a personal mission statement.

Someone told me recently that they thought it was amazing how I talk about Buffy and Angel. They said they can't imagine loving any tv show that much for that long. 18 years for me.

The truth, I've learned, is life doesn't end when the story ends and stories don't necessarily need to end with a satisfying win or a happily ever after. They just need to mean something.

Not Fade Away means so much to me.

There is no reward at the end. There is going to battle to help those who need it, giving a big middle finger to those who try and keep us down, and being present in the pieces of our lives we actually get to live.

I choose to fight.

feels relevant.

this girl was showing all the signs of being a secret mermaid so i pushed her into the pool and she turned into a forty foot long mosasaurus which is tbh way cooler

not really sure how to get her out though

for those of you asking why i pushed her into the pool in the first place: i work for a duplicitous small town aquarium and i'm trying to kidnap mermaids to jump through hoops and shit to entertain tourists and make money. fucking obviously. now that i know she's actually a mosasaurus though i Have fallen in pure-hearted love with her

Writer culture is impulsively posting the first chapter of an uncompleted work because you’re starved for interaction and suddenly realising the crushing expectations you have placed on yourself as people begin to comment how excited they are for the next chapter.

i agree with this but i wonder if the person saying this realizes that this will lead their kids to ask why their own parents are allowing their classmates to starve when they themselves have a fridge full of food. a good question for both the kids and the parents. but questionable if the parents actually want to have to answer that.
