The blog of a weirdo author and perpetual pissant. He/They, 294 years old, ambiguously gay villain. Call me Kai. I dual wield sci fi and fantasy, but sci fi is my offhand weapon, with my charisma modifier stacked on top.

see you think that Deadpool and Wolverine were fighting all night long in that Honda Odyssey

but I think, if that's the case, then it's amazing that they've conferred their powers of self healing to their clothes, which should be entirely not intact anymore.

so.

just saying.

think they took em off at some point

lmao the parents who brought their seven year olds to see Deadpool bitching about how violent it was.

it's rated r, dumbass.

little Timmy had better grow some fuckin balls or some brains, or else he'll end up like you.

now the DCU is dead in the water because of its millions of financial failures, and the fact that Warner Bros is fucked.

but it would be hilarious if they pulled another Suicide Squad 2017, because of the success of Deadpool and Wolverine.

and made some piece of shit r rated comedy with some bullshit DC character known for being a loudmouth.

like come on, DC!

entertain us again with your corporate trash.

for the past ten years, you've been limping behind Marvel, desperately licking the ground beneath its feet in the hopes of tasting its crumbs.

your only solace was that even Marvel was floundering with garbage like the Marvels.

now what will you do?

if the the MCU revitalized itself, is it time for you to come back too?

go on!

i missed seeing 4 hour videos ragging on every bad decision you could've possibly made.

this sounds sarcastic, but legitimately, bad movies make the best critical content.

if every movie was good, then how would we know what doesn't work?

dc, this is your destiny.

there's something ironic about Disney's family friendly watered down CGI stuffed milquetoast products failing them, and damaging their brand in the long run...both in terms of the MCU and Pixar shitting out so many stinkers...

only for Deadpool, the raunchy, irreverent, gore-soaked r-rated comedy to save their reputation.

by being the exact opposite of the Disney brand.

like sure, it DOES end up inheriting everything that ultimately made the MCU so obnoxious, like the cameos and the multiverse nonsense.

and it's got less bite than the previous two movies. no cocaine, really, Disney?

but it did it with its own violent and pansexually charged flare, and gave us something different, kind of like Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

it also reminded us that somewhere in between the corporate copy and paste, there is still some level of artistry there, some pizzazz, some value in the lowbrow self aware comedy and ruthless abuse of nostalgia.

If GOTG3 was willing to go darker, rather than comedic, to show us Marvel could make something outside of a corporate boardroom, then Deadpool is here to show us that maybe Marvel can still make something different, if they'd just let the real artists out of the pit they were thrown in beneath Disneyland.

I gotta admire the dramatic irony.

I also think Deadpool's fatass saving Disney is the plot twist none of us saw coming.

I'm not sure if Tumblr is really talking about Deadpool. I understand if they're not, because the MCU fandom is so dead in the water.

But you know.

Go see it, even if you don't like marvel.

just for the opening credit scene.

Deadpool's jokes about being "Marvel Jesus" are especially funny when you remember that no one thought Deadpool would be successful.

It was released at the worst possible fucking time for movies, in February, hence the joke about it being a "Valentine's Day movie" and was made with a really low budget for a superhero movie.

Hence all the jokes about being out of bullets, and not having enough money for cameos.

It was something of a sleeper hit...and now look at it.

Coming back, and saving the MCU at the MCU's lowest point...a true underdog story.

And also, you know.

Jesus Died. He came back three days later.

Connect the dots here.

Deadpool is actually Marvel Jesus.

It's a good joke in the film, and it's already looking like it's actually fucking true.

He's going to save the entire MCU, goddamnit.

The box office is going to be straight up nasty by the end of its run, and Disney sure will be glad they decided to let this r rated comedy join the ranks of the pristine and proper MCU.

See what happens when you take chances, Disney?

You little creatively bankrupt entertainment cucks?

deadpool is sort of the last movie I would've expected to draw back the old marvel charm, and remind you why its movies were so successful in the first place.

it has all the foundations, you know.

cameos based on pure nostalgia, self aware humor, the big epic action set pieces, and endless CGI.

things that got ruined in all of the other mediocre movies that plagued phase 4, and damaged the brand's reputation with audiences.

but deadpool being the movie to bring back that special feeling, of like, seeing a movie that's both good AND fits into a multiverse, but without being completely dragged into it...

it's just nuts that it was DEADPOOL of all things to do it.

Deadpool's not kid friendly, which is basically Disney's entire brand, especially when it comes to Marvel. He's openly pansexual, a concept that terrifies the Russo brothers and Disney execs.

It also married nostalgia to its main plot, AND played up the nostalgia of the Fox version of the X-men, as an homage/farewell to Fox.

Which I really wasn't expecting. Like Disney is trying to bury the old X men.

Writing them a love letter, and still making fun of them, was just so out of left field.

I guess it's just surprising that it was Deadpool and Wolverine to bring back classic Marvel, because it was this underdog, that no one expected to be popular from the very beginning.

It coming back to save the MCU...

Yeah.

Deadpool being Marvel Jesus...fitting in more ways than one.

Well done, Deadpool.

You did get the last laugh...didn't you?

Bringing Chris Evans back to the MCU but having him play JOHNNY STORM from the old Fantastic Four movie is fucking brilliant.

the best fucking joke ever made.

I was actually screaming when he yelled flame on, it just took me so off guard.

and thank god they let that man swear.

Deadpool and Wolverine really saved the MCU in my mind.

Finally some good fucking content.

Someone in the MCU with some fucking bite.
