it's really embarrassing watching the Sam Raimi Spiderman trilogy in hindsight.
because Mary Jane literally throws herself at Peter at the end of the first movie and she's like omg I'm so in love with you and he's like, "I'll always be with you... as your friend."
And it's like oh wow. I'd kill myself.
but then it gets worse.
She still thirsts for him in the next movie, but he's all like oh no we can't be together... imma still flirt with you though.
But then he loses his powers and is all like, can we get together now? And at first she says no. But then she goes back to him and is like actually yes.
BUT THEN HE HAS HIS POWERS BACK. So he's like actually sorry girl, something came up.
like Jesus Christ.
can you fucking imagine, you throw yourself at a guy, he says no, you brush off your ego. but then he keeps flirting with you, only to say no.
then he says yes. but then he says NO when YOU go to HIM.
and she has to beg him to kiss her too, which is just.
girl. I'm so sorry.
And yeah yeah yeah, she finds out he's spiderman, so miscommunication solved, right.
EXCEPT NO.
because in the THIRD movie, their relationship gets even worse.
he's kissing other women and dancing like a jazz age stripper at the club where she works.
it's just bad, man.
I feel so bad for Mary Jane in the Raimi verse.
Girl takes nothing but Ls.
I love how the first venom movie was like, universally panned by critics and hated by a lot of cishet comic licking bros... but it did really well financially.
all because of the gay monster fuckers.
you can't tell me Sony doesn't think that too, with the way they deliberately played up the bromance angle with both the second venom and now the third too, like.
the first one was subtle, and they only jokingly talked about symbrock. then the second one happened where venom spends an entire movie pining for Eddie and gets up and comes out to a gay nightclub.
and now???
till death do they part???
oh Sony.
I don't ever side with corporations, but.
you get it.
