I had to draw them

Holy fuck

Watching the wagtails harass much larger animals is one of my favourite things. They are tiny bastards and I love them.

Wagtails are insanely brave for how tiny they are.

On multiple occasions these little birds will sit in the middle of the road and stare down oncoming traffic before flying off at the absolute last second.

I regularly see them chasing HAWKS which could easily make a meal of them and the hawks flee from the sting birbs instead.

They’re also pretty clever. There’s one individual that lives in my street and he’s learned that humans mowing their lawns make the bugs in the grass and dirt easier to access and so whenever it hears me mowing it flies in and follows me around as I go.

And their song? It’s REALLY beautiful to hear as it’s very musical. But I question whether these birds actually sleep because I see them active throughout the daytime hours but I hear them calling all through the night and early morning.

If you want to know what calls they make check out this video.

Has anyone else watched/heard of the old 2000's nat geo alien documentary "Extraterrestrial"?

I loved it when I was younger, but after searching up, I'm surprised how little media there is covering it! I want to know your thoughts... Also, I apologize for the image quality... most of the ones i could find were pretty shot, unfortunately. i have yet to find a way to properly watch this.

Edit: watch it here!

@cathchicken Hey op if you liked this you’d probably like Alien Life.

It’s a 4 part mini series in Netflix (or at least it was in 2020 but I don’t know if it’s still up now).

Basically it focuses on what alien life might be like by applying what we know about life on earth in relation to the conditions our planet has and applying that to the conditions of various exoplanets.

They visualise it through CGI and some of the critters are pretty damn cute tbh.
