I am forever in love with the scene where Merlin kills Agravaine. There's that exact moment (↑) in which he realises he has to do it, that Agravaine has to die, and I love the mixture of regret and badassery as he gets ready to do it. he knows he's the most powerful person in the room and he gives up any pretense otherwise. it's a glimpse into how powerful merlin could be if his magic did not need to be a secret. like, he may not enjoy killing, but he can and will do it.
the magic itself is also the coolest thing ever, so quietly powerful:
