I know I haven't posted regularly on this blog in years but I'm not seeing a whole lot of posts on this site about what's happening in Minneapolis right now. And the posts I am seeing are not covering the scope of it. I'm genuinely surprised because tumblr is usually where I find out about things organically through my feed. So I'm making a post about it.

A brief summary of events, from someone who pays attention and also lives here, best taken with a grain of salt and some fact checking:

2020: George Floyd is murdered by Minneapolis police. There are weeks of protests about it. It makes national news. Protests happen in DC. The infamous Trump and his bible photo shoot happens.

2024: Gov. Tim Walz is Kamala Harris' running mate in the presidential election. He starts the "they're just weird" thing. Is folksy, Trump personally hates him.

November 2025: ICE starts showing up to "crack down" on "illegal immigrants" in our Somali community. I may remember the numbers wrong, but something like 90% of our Somali neighbors are either naturalized or were born here. People distribute ICE whistles and are on high alert. Localized to the twin cities.

December 2025: Nick Shirley is paid by a bunch of MN Republicans to do an exposé on daycare fraud. I didn't hear much about this. All I really know is this was an ongoing investigation that MN officials were already taking care of and some of the guilty parties have already gone to court from a COVID era food assistance program. Mostly, if not all, legal US citizens. He did a really bad job at doing journalism and just showed up to day cares with a camera crew and went "YUP nobody's here" as if they weren't in lock-down procedure because some fuck ass white men showed up with camera equipment that could easily be mistaken for guns. I believe. I will fact check all of this and will correct myself in a reblog if necessary. (source but not all the details that I remember hearing about but they said there was no recorded evidence of fraud)

Conservative internet explodes. Kristi Noem sends a mess of agents. I know it's more than a thousand more. They call it Operation Metro Surge. They are going everywhere. There are protests. People try to interrupt the arrests. It's a lot.

1/7/2026: Renee Nicole Good is shot by an ICE agent in the middle of a protest. A few blocks away from where George Floyd was killed. Broad daylight. In front of a crowd. While she was following instructions to turn her vehicle around. Jonathan Ross, the piece of shit Nazi who did it, was recording on his phone the whole time, switched his phone to his non dominant hand so he could more effectively shoot her in the face from 2 feet away. Claims self defense, several angles immediately disprove him. He releases his video, he calls her a "fucking bitch" as her corpse drives away. Does not help him at all. (source) He has not been seen since. Some photos/reports exist of a bunch of agents showing up to his house and taking some tubs and art away. His wife is an immigrant. (source but it's the daily mail so grain of salt.)

Not hours later they go raid a school and tear gas a bunch of kids. (source). Minneapolis has switched to distance learning. I'm not sure about St. Paul.

The last week: There are up to 3,000 ICE agents here. Keep in mind Minneapolis and St. Paul only have 600 or fewer police officers each. So these dudes are roaming in packs. It's 2-4 dudes to a car and 2-5 cars per pack. People are "commuting with" ICE agents to honk and alert people that they're there. People are going on patrols with their neighbors.

ICE is no longer asking "are you a citizen." They are simply walking up to you and taking you into custody. They are going door to door. They have started just breaking the door down if you don't comply. They are driving recklessly to just grab pedestrians and drivers alike (source). People are afraid to go get groceries. It's all over the state. I am learning names of cities in places I thought were just factory farm land and I've lived here my whole life because they're doing raids there. I had to text my family in the suburbs because I saw reports of my small little hometown an hour away getting door knocks today.

It's insane and I am not doing it justice. There are thousands of masked federal agents roaming around all of Minnesota with no warrant or specific goal. They are just trolling around looking for people. They are detaining anyone and everyone. They are beating people. They are pepper spraying people. They are kidnapping people. They are acting unconstitutionally, aggressively, and unpredictably. They are creating situations that are dangerous so that they can try to justify beating or shooting their way out. I will run an errand and then get fed a tiktok that was shot from the Cub Foods that I just left and there's 20+ ICE vehicles parked there now. They're taking people from work, from day care, from schools, from shopping centers.

Iceout.org tracks ice sightings. This is a screen shot with the date set to 12/1/2025.

And from today.

They have cut off SNAP and WIC benefits. Just for us. Not any other state, just Minnesota. They're saying it's because of fraud but I think it's because they hate that we use federal funds to give free breakfast and lunch to every public school student.

And this is breaking just now, 1/13/2026: the DOJ is trying to investigate Renee Good's widow. 4 people have resigned about it. (source). I don't even want to read the article to see what they're saying.

So that's a brief history.

Unicorn Riot is doing a lot of good reporting and they don't seem to have the spin that a lot of local news stations will have where they downplay everything. This article specifically goes into a lot of the specific instances of brutality.

It's also a rumor on TikTok that all of the videos of ICE and protests and the such and the like are being geo locked. So my feed is all footage of people being detained and talking about the "commuting" they're doing and what they're seeing but people outside of the state are not seeing it. So if you're also on that infernal app, try searching for Minneapolis or Minnesota and see what you see. I'm kind of curious if this is true. Because I've been living and breathing ICE and doomsday prepping content for a week. I'm sure those two topics aren't connected.

I don't really know what my goal with this post is. I'm tired. I'm in the first ring of suburbs, so it's been pretty quiet. But I have friends in south Minneapolis. And I'm worried for them. And I know it's a matter of time before my quiet pocket is affected. Because they're coming door to door.

Pay attention to Minnesota, I think an example is being made of us.

I've been monitoring this closely because I have friends in the area, and because I think every city in the country is at risk of having the feds come to do what they're doing in Minnesota, and we all need to get ready.

There are some Twin Cities activists who have been very clearly laying out what they're doing, and why it's effective at slowing down ICE. It sounds like all you really need, is neighborhood group chats where people can let one another know when and where ICE is present, and then people show up, start recording, and blowing whistles, and then ICE will leave again more often than not. This VERY SHORT thread by a Twin Cities activist outlines what to do and how it works.

Also: Minnesota Public Radio has been doing great coverage of what's happening, and the local NBC affiliate has some excellent interviews with activists who were arrested and detained for hours.

And finally, some good news: the courts restored SNAP funding.

My dad came with the best reason to defend the Brotherhood. We watched together the Fallout TV show and i asked who he thought it was most suited to rebuild the wasteland, the NCR or the Brotherhood, mind you, it was the first time he seen anything fallout related. His words:

"Idealy, the NCR seems the best option. But the best option isnt always available in the end like they are. The brotherhood did took over and possibly exterminated philly? Yes. They are awful. Terrible. But, what other choice did Philly had? Live in chaos with muderers and worse in a place it would be a matter of time until it collapsed? Or be dominated by the Brotherhood that although awful, would bring peace even by a lack of freedom. Its awful but those who survived would never be robbed or mudered again. They didnt had options. The NCR wasnt there or in other cities like them. And both do have their points, the NCR used cold fusion to power the city but the Brotherhood is also right, it could be used for much worse. Like those evil scientists from the Enclave, its the whole point of that scientist escaping with the plans in the first place, its not because its a wasteland that its suddently immune to being destroyed or dominated. In fact by Lucy's dad, it showed that specially because its a wasteland some people want to destroy it again. I would choose the NCR, they are more peaceful but the Brotherhood, although awful and genocidal, are sometimes the only option avaiable and itd better to take it then not take it. Maximus choose the Brotherhood because he had nowhere to go to after his town got destroyed, even if awful, the brotherhood are needed and is important."

JUST A SCENE I WROTE. NOT PART OF ANY ACTUAL STORY AND NOT EVEN CANON TO THE CHARACTER:

"You... You just materialized into this world and you destroyed... You destroyed half of Ramblersville! You.. why?! Tell me why?!"

Zenith said holding him by the collar of his dark cloak as he cackled:

"Because im evil!"

"That isnt a damn excuse! Tell me what is it!"

His cackled got louder, windows of the burned stilt houses vibrated with it and it ended as a teraton came from Zenith's punch to each he just smiled with a carved inwards face that quickly regenerated like clay and he said slowly:

"Because. I am. Evil. Thats it golden boy. Now you take me to jail. Because thats what happen to villains, thats what heroes do. What you do. Go ahead. Finish our play... but if you want a answer to why Ramblersville? I was trying to get to Broadway. But, i figure to stop on the way. See if you are as fast as people claim... appears you werent." He cackled again and Zenith started laughting too as his glare rose:

"Oh... Inimicus... you mistook me from someone else from the platonic realm then... your mistake was thinking that in here im just like in there... im not. Im just a projection of what i am there. A flawed one... just like you are."

He smiled and Inimicus stopped smiling, Zenith quickly took his hands away from his collar and moved to Inimicus cold white skeletal hands:

"Which means..."

Zenith quickly extanded Inimicus arms so they were fully extanded at his sides, fear arose on the thin and pointy face of Inimicus, his red eyes widening in realization as Zenith's grip incresed in strenght like a hydralic press:

"...i can afford some taintedness from time to time... and if you dont actually have a reason nor path to redemption, nothing stops me from doing this."

Zenith pulled Inimicus arms dislocking them while at the same time breaking his hands. A scream echoed into the troposphere as Zenith was holding Inimicus arms:

"You... You motherfucker! You arent supp--"

Before Inimicus could even finish, Zenith opened his hands.

Inimicus body started falling and as Zenith stood above watching him fall he clicked the communicator in his ear:

"C.A.V.E, make sure there is a embarcell waiting for him. Im sending him in, tell the Terra-beings to lead him inside it quick."

"Understood sir, set release time from the ambar facilities when sir?"

As Inimicus kept screaming and his arms flabbed into the wind as Zenith watched while caulculating when he would hit the ground, seeing when the need would arise to save him, the need for him to use his powers:

"Hm... dont set one."

Before hitting the ground, Zenith stood one of hands into his direction and a white light eveloped Inimicus. And he was away from there. Teleported.

Zenith sighed, saw the flames in Ramblersville, the horrors, the smell and descended, from his belt he took the construction tools to fix Inimicus actions.

youre so fuckign right

quick little cheat sheet

Severe damage to limb resulting in amputation = not body horror, that's an injury

Limb injury heals in a visually unpleasant and physically limiting way = not body horror, you're being rude about a disability

Limb spontaneously grows back for no reason = body horror

This is about Sci-Hub. yeah we get it.. gatekeep knowledge and protect the interests of capital…

Listen, this is serious.

Do not use the website called Sci-Hub!

It lets people access scientific articles for free. This is dangerous. It helps the free flow of knowledge and reduces the competitive edge of all the people who worked really hard to have been born into a wealth.

Like, it’s literally a website where you can type in the DOI of an article and read it, without ever having to pay the publisher who exploited the author.

So, again, do not, under any circumstance, use Sci-Hub. I mean, can you imagine a world where knowledge is free and easily accessible to everyone? Even, y'know, poor people?

Libgen also has many books online, including textbooks, searchable by name, author, and ISBN. Can you imagine textbook companies not getting their hard-earned income from poor college students? Here is the link just so you make sure that you never accidentally stumble across this horrible, unethical website.

Oh, and while we’re talking about books, if you’ve managed to stay clear from Libgen, definitely don’t go to zlibrary, where you can also find a lot of textbooks, but unfortunately they’re completely free.

Reblogging so you know which sites to totally avoid

i was talking with my brothers yesterday and we decided the best way to own a guy who takes off his shirt to fight you is to pick his shirt up and put it on

And then you run around with his shirt as he either chases you or simply gives up from emotional shock

Great strategy

Gisella Perl was forced to work as a doctor in Auschwitz concentration camp during the holocaust.

She was ordered to report ever pregnant women do the physician Dr. Josef Mengele, who would then use the women for cruel experiments (e.g. vivisections) before killing them.

She saved hundreds of women by performing abortions on them before their pregnancy was discovered, without having access to basic medical supplies. She became known as the “Angel of Auschwitz”.

After being rescued from Bergen-Belsen concentration camp she tried to commit suicide, but survived, recovered and kept working as a gynecologist, delivering more than 3000 babies.

I want to nail this to the forehead of every anti-abortionist who uses the word “Holocaust” when talking about legal abortions.

Not a single woman wanted a child in those conditions. Not a single one.

No matter how bad men had it, the women had it WORSE. Oppressed women are the oppressed man’s relief.

A king has no sons, no daughters, and no queen. For this reason he must decide who will take the throne after he dies. To do this he decides that he will give all of the children of the kingdom a single seed. Whichever child has the largest, most beautiful plant will earn the throne; this being a metaphor for the kingdom. At the end of the contest all of the children came to the palace with their enormous and beautiful plants in hand. After he looks at all of the children’s pots, he finally decides that the little girl with an empty pot will be the next Queen. Why did he choose this little girl over all of the other children with their beautiful plants.

The seeds were all dead (burned, fake, etc.).  The other kids cheated and got different seeds and planted them.  The little girl didn’t cheat and was not able to grow anything because the seed was dead.  She was the only one who didn’t cheat.

Nothing like original fairy tales!

i get the moral it’s trying to convey but that king is an idiot and the kingdom’s doomed. you don’t appoint an honest kid who will forthrightly admit a failure like that to leadership of a country, you put that kid in charge of like… the army, or something. the department of agriculture.

i’d send out dead seeds, then appoint the kid with the biggest and most beautiful plant anyway. ideally the same kind of plant as the dead seeds were from. and ideally a kid with a really good pokerface. that kid knows:

a) how to perceive failure early (a well developed second plant means they knew how soon the first seeds should sprout and didn’t fuck around when they didn’t)

b) how to fix the situation (a second plant of the same species means they got someone to help them identify the seeds and plant more, or are observant enough to do it themselves)

c) how to get the best people for a job in to do it (kids aren’t great gardeners. a beautiful science project probably means mom did all the work— just what you want from a child ruler and their regent)

all around, that kid (or their mom) is the kind of devious results-oriented bald-faced liar you want to go toe-to-toe with the lords of your country and the rulers of your neighbors. not a little kid who admits defeat so early and in a situation with such high stakes. ‘whoops i didn’t grow a plant’ sounds a lot less sweet when you phrase it like ‘i give up on ruling my country’.

you know, i think i’d also send agents out to encourage the kids to destroy each other’s plants. let’s see who’s good at seige warfare, too.

Did Lord Vetinari write that post?

This fairy tale has always bugged me because it contradicts itself. Because THE KING IS LYING. He’s cheating! He lied about the goal of the contest and the nature of the test! And he has the absolute unmitigated GALL to praise the empty pot kid for their honesty and to snub the kids who all did exactly what he did! The king in this story is proof positive that honesty isn’t the most important trait in a monarch, which undermines the whole supposed moral!

Having friends as someone who grew without no one is weird.

What do you mean people feel this thing in their chest that feels like when a part of you is numb and slowly seem to feel something? Its scary. Its horrific to me. Like im clawing the inside of myself and screaming in horror and pain as someone simply paid attention to something i said or is interested in what im saying and isnt treating me like background noise. What do you mean someone is paying attention to me venting out and suddently im not feeling like a NPC saying scripted dialogue?

And my mind keep screaming at me:

"this shouldnt happen", "you are having emotions, emotions lead to damage, manipulation, anxiety and a list of issues you know about. You can still be human and find joy without them, its how you lived so far.", "you are a horrible person, there is no way someone would actually be your friend", "you are being too worried on them, you are bad, you attach to easily. You care too much."

And i hate it, because its something i dont know, i can only try to predict the outcome and all my connection to people have been either though: anger or physical fights and theats or have been me being abused or me dating someone.

Which means the only non-violent interaction i ever had with people on a deep level have been romantic ones which i realized it may not be the same type of interaction and mental wave-lenght for friendships.

I hate my mind. I hate my face. I hate my indentity. I hate my body. I love the world and people, its dark and bright sides.

Anyway, thats it for ramblings in here. Still trying to grasp how tumblr works, found out that songs can be added to posts.

I am exceptionally lucky in that my parents never hit me, grounded me, confiscated my things, banned me from my hobbies or threatened any of these actions to make me behave as a kid. as an adult it has made me realise how very very long a road most people have to traverse before they can take a statement like 'no rule that must be enforced by threat is legitimate' seriously.

I really do mean this sympathetically. we are not well equipped as a culture to grapple with the implications of power and violence, because we are intimately saturated in it from birth. cruelty feels natural, and that's hard to unlearn.

a bunch of things that I know are going to sound really corny (which honestly I think is half the cultural problem - the idea that non-coercive parenting is touchy-feely, ineffectual or just kind of cringe - but that could be a whole other post)

the main thing was that they always explained things to me. if I wanted something I couldn't have, they explained why (from 'we can't afford that', 'it's bad for you', 'it's dangerous', all the way up to 'it's made by a big company that treats its workers badly, and we don't want to give them money'). If I threw a tantrum, they either waited it out until I got tired and bored or they redirected what we were doing ('we have to be patient and wait in line. if we don't wait in line, we can't go into the theatre. we can't wait in line if you scream and upset people. okay then, we're going home.')

beyond that, they always spoke to me like a full person. they asked my opinion on things and took it seriously, and asked me why as much as I asked them. apparently I had a phase as a toddler where I always wanted to be the first one on the swings / down the slide, and would throw almighty fits about it, until my mum took me aside one day and said 'why do you want to be first? are you worried the slide will get used up?' I laughed like it was the funniest thing I'd ever heard, and never kicked up a fuss about taking turns after that.

on the granular level, they focused on positives over negatives. My mum would draw little good behaviour charts for me, featuring e.g. me walking a long winding path through the woods with my soft toys. the path would be made up of, say, 30 stones, and every day that I was well behaved I'd earn a sticker on one of them. when I reached the end of the path, I got to pick a treat. something like a new plastic animal for my collection, or a day trip to the aquarium.

I do remember them sitting me down once and asking me to come up with what I thought would be an appropriate punishment if I ever did something really bad. I think my first suggestion was something like 'no TV', which was a real nice try because we didn't have a TV at the time. I don't remember what I finally decided on, it might have been 'no dessert for a week'. We wrote it down together and I signed my name, and they sealed it in an important looking envelope which they put in my dad's filing cabinet (for important documents). This would be unsealed if I ever did something Really Bad. the eventuality never came up, but the act of participating in the exercise kept me mostly on the straight and narrow. It's funny, the conceptual punishment itself wasn't even that bad. It was the seriousnes of the adult commitment I'd made to Behaving Well that did the trick.

When I DID do the standard naughty stuff, my parents would just sit me down and explain to me seriously why it was wrong and what impact it had caused for other people. They'd ask what motivated me, and why I acted on those feelings in that specific way. They would, of course, tell me they were disappointed. If necessary, they would tell me how things would have to change as a result of what I'd done. They were always, always open to hearing out my side of the story, and always, always took my feelings seriously even if they disapproved of my behaviour. they would ask if I was ready to say sorry and get a hug. if I wasn't ready, if I was still upset or angry, they would give me space in my room and ask me to come find them when I wanted to make up. and I always did, because I always knew they would accept it.

1. OP parents are fucking awesome

2. My parents didnt took care of me as a kid. My mom worked all night and day and my dad worked out of town. My mom worked as a principal of a bad public school, drug deals and child SA levels, and she did fix those issues while she worked there. But that also lead to Drug dealers and their friends in targeting me to get to her, which lead me to grow up locked inside of my home only leaving for school and up to a certain age, sometimes scorted by a friend of my family that was a security guard. That + the whole being a vigilante thing ment that ive never had a normal childhood, my parents never punished me for my misbehaviors because they were never around. I learned not from punishment but by the consequences of my own actions, school, television, books and comics and so on were what taught me to properly behave, the closest thing i had to parent guidance were my aunt and my grandpa, incredible people who taught me how to be polite, chivalrous, kind and pretty much all i am today, but they also never punished me and they died before i reached teenagehood.

While i was growing up i had to take care of one of my cousins, his parents didnt took that much care of him and so i had to step up, i was only 8 but had to do something, and i took care of him like he was my son, and i also never punished him while he was alive, i taught, i explained why stuff was wrong and allowed him to learn from his mistakes unless those mistakes were harmful.

I dont know if i did things right or wrong, he died when he was 10 years old and i was 18, i really do hope i did things right. Well sorry for my usual ramble, those are my thoughts and experience on childhood education
