• Caelus initially does know about Frankenstein and creature via the mad galvinist. Like a lot of other people.
• However she emphasizes a lot with creature. He’s kind of the first and only conscious experiment she’s heard of which makes it heart wrenching to her when he suffers
• Creature’s suffering kind of fuels a lot of fears that Caelus had already (fear of abandonment, fear of harm due to being an experiment, ect.)
• Caelus experiences a lot of abuse from the scientific community, (ask me if your interested) but due to them also being the ones who are paying for her existence she has kind of a necessity to try to not act out around them. She copes with this by pushing a lot of her hatred to Frankenstein, building him up as the quintessential mad scientist, and focusing a lot of ire from her own experience on him, expecting, like everyone else, for him to be dead.
• (This is especially abt about her projecting about her (semi subconscious (?)) anger about her own creator and her thoughts behind her own creation. Because while she is shown a lot of love from her father, and does not want to hate him, she cannot deny that her creation is unethical to herself, and that she is pissed that most of her trauma was basically an intended effect of her creation.)
• She was initially convinced to read the book with the promise of being able to see the musical, however due to previous points, actively refused to. Making it maybe the first play she refused to go see. She did end up sneaking into Diodati theater to see it once she was at the Society and got retraumatized by the realization that people really wouldn’t care about her perspective which makes it really hard for her to connect with the lodgers because it boosted the paranoia she already was dealing with that was caused by her trauma (I realize that I probably should and will make a separate post soon. Trust)
• She kinda uses Creature as a litmus test for her own acceptance. If creature is treated with empathy she will feel more welcome and vice versa.

• Two ways I describe their relationship, either it’s older cousin who is being annoyed by their younger cousin or older sibling who moved out a while ago visiting their younger sibling for the holidays. (Fully platonic btw. Caelus is 4 and creature is like… 32)
• They are also foils, specifically in how they interact with society, how they interact with media, and how they interact with society, how they interact with their creators, ect.
• They both are also kinda starved for understanding in another, and while their understanding of each other’s issues is not one to one it’s probably the only chance either of them is going to get to that sort of understanding with another person.
• Their relationship is also kind of clouded by the fact they know that their time is limited. That they’re running out of time and that eventually one of them is going to have to leave. So you know. Pre-grieving.
