on the one hand, i don't see why netflix would actually fund the fake ending thing and make an actual ending have a queer couple central to it... on the other, i could see why they'd love to be a part of such a big stunt and take credit for it (plus it's not like the finale we have rn is extremely polished and high-budget lmao). and if it was released as a fake documentary or something like that, it'd make all the dumb casual audience and kids and such skip it, right? so they'd get less critism for being "woke".
well, let's just see what happens on 11th/12th...
[...] that's our big swing this time. we've played around a lot with memory and dreams and things like that throughout the show and we really just wanted to go what if we fully dive in this year. cause there's nothing to me creepier than something like that. [...] we love the idea of something that yes, looks cozy, but there's just something off about it... and that can feel very nightmarish in its own way and just as scary as a big CG monster or scarier
stop trying to paint conformitygate people as delusional and coping when it's lowkey the most logical explanation we have as of now
me whenever i start thinking about stranger things for more than 5 seconds
how it feels to be conformitygate enjoyer and give a benefit of the doubt to creators when nobody is in your ear yelling how evil they are and it was all just a queerbait tone-deaf show
bruh "slow burn" you can genuinely tell that noah thought they'd be endgame im so sorry u were bylering out with the rest of us
everyone expected byler to happen. it was promoted, it was being build up in between the seasons in every media in stranger things universe - especially made by few of the writers themselves. after volume 1 every ending led to byler. you cannot tell me something didn't go terribly wrong
i don't know why people fight with me when i choose to believe that netflix is behind most of this mess & give the benefit of the doubt to creators of the show because you do realize... in every possible case netflix is still at fault, right? the only case it isn't is if they do release the new episode thing themselves.
but even if the duffers were the main ones behind this mess... netflix still promoted the hell out of this season plus refused to shut byler down, used them to queerbait audience even further. and further, if the duffers are at fault - every writer in the room is. every executive, every co-director. they should have noticed that something is very wrong with the writing and how bad it is and how many plot holes it leaves - not just queerbaiting part btw. even actors were wrong by playing into it and giving us hope if there was none & not just hyping up the finale but telling us straight-up lies.
so sorry if i'd rather believe that a known evil capitalist company is evil than a huge amount of people that worked on this show instead because i genuinely have no clue how could the same group of people create previous seasons
everytime i watch any pseudo-documentaries or behind the scenes released by netflix i get convinced that it's their fault. why are the duffers barely included in it when it's supposedly their own show. why does almost everyone sound like being held at a gunpoint and gives the most pr answers ever. why is netflix genuinely the only one who's so happy about this bullshit ending & always jumping to promote mileven. i have absolutely zero hope for this company
the more you think about it, the more eps 6-8 feel like a collective sabotage. and it just peaks in the finale. it's really not just writing - the script itself is worse, sets are worse, cgi is worse, acting is worse (only jamie seems to be giving his 100%), extras act worse too, camerawork is worse, there is an insane amount of continuity errors, editing is worse too, the whole product just feels like a Slop.
the only moment it picks up again to its previous quality is the epilogue but then everything in it just seems deeply off. the acting is not straight up bad it's just very theatrical and lacks naturalness. there is a huge amount of references and easter eggs to the point you're overloaded by them, the amount of detail in the background is suddenly insane after very lackluster blue screen sets for the most of the episode. color grading, lighting, editing and sound feels better too but not like previously. it has this very intense vibe that hasn't been seen in stranger things before - the closest thing we've seen to it is henry's mindscape/camazotz.
they've had a whole year to write this, another year to shoot it and then another year for everything concerning post-production. i refuse to believe it's just a coincidence.
few article snippets to show you
why i think netflix is at fault;
and for now i still stand with directors & the crew.
they have literally said it themselves. they have crazy creative leash at netflix. meanwhile, in the newest interviews they suddenly say...
you can hear the sarcastic tone peaking through even when it's written and that speaks volumes.
they basically accepted their friend's proposition without any second thought, just knowing that they will have creative freedom, don't people see how crazy it is? you don't just do that if you genuinely were on good terms with your previous company.
matt & ross don't want to go into specifics but later on nice netflix executive assures us that everything is fine between them and it's all surely about films! don't you worry.
plus back then we thought their fight with netflix was about releasing the finale in theaters but they did manage to do that at the end so... what was that all about?
also that's interesting how the netflix executive is focused on just giving the fans what they want.
meanwhile netflix silently cancelled both of these projects recently:
and she doesn't even sound devastated about losing the duffers lol
the only thing still standing is tales from '85 that completely strayed away from its main idea of being styled like 80s cartoons and went for a commercial look. notice how duffers barely ever mention it and focus on their own spin-off.
bonus - they also mentioned a bunch of times how they hid stuff from netflix and only trusted their own crew.
you do you - but i'll still be here until april. i bet after their contract with netflix expires we could hear some interesting stuff.
see i love conformitygate but you people have way too much trust in netflix... considering that the whole stranger things studio is moving to paramount in april because they wanted to have 100% creative control
