Do you know anything i can donate to for palestine that's not the gofundmes because the idea of having to choose who needs my money more is just. scary to me they all need it 3: maybe there's a thing that splits/distributes money evenly???? idk but help would be appreciated

Gazafunds actually deals with this anxiety and makes a decision for you if you want. Their home page has a spotlighted fundraiser and the code consider things like how close the gfm is to finishing, when the most recent donation is, etc. So it's randomized to help as many people as possible.

There's also @helpgazachildren which if you donate, you can help multiple people at once since it's a whole mutual aid fund, or at least close to it. Hussam distributes money to people who need it when he's asked.

they're really making scott hunter into a character of all time though he's deeply repressed, he's incredibly lonely, he's obsessive, he's a walking tragedy, he's like if american psycho fixated entirely on wifing up a barista, he longs for domesticity, he gets bullied by twinks and bullies them back, he's walking around sochi going through his own circles of hell because he ruined his own life and absolutely no one knows and on top of all that he's like forty years old scott hunter i would protect you with my life

prev this is too funny to leave in the tags I'm cackling

it’s genuinely so awesome how ds9 stops halfway through its oceans eleven themed holosuite episode to let sisko explain why he’s uncomfortable roleplaying in an era that in reality he wouldnt have been accepted in. hard to imagine a show nowadays that would play this so straight.

even though he does eventually join in, and kasidy presents a different perspective, his opinion isn’t treated as invalid by the narrative or anything. it’s perfectly understandable & in character for him to feel like he does, and also in character for him to put aside his feelings to support his friends. just great stuff

The opening of Voyager season 5 being, one after the other: Crisis of Leadership, Crisis of Self, Crisis of Belonging, focused in on Janeway, Seven, and B'Elanna, such that each topic can easily apply to all three characters while retaining the unique construction of each. The circumstances finally latch onto the psychology in an expressible way and each person ultimately can't be saved from their position but the ending figures as each episode wraps up have some directional point: Janeway, looking at a field of stars; Seven, returning to her reflection; B'Elanna, eating banana pancakes. They're answers to the thematic question, but they're not easy answers and not whole solutions, which is more satisfying.

the thing fantasy racism doesn't understand about real racism, and honestly all bigotry, is that it's silly. like on its face it is absurdly silly. it follows zero logic at all. trying to backfill it with reason and logic belies a misunderstanding of this. so when you say the bigotry a class of fantasy people face is due to some event in the past, or some inherent danger to them, some genetic predisposition, or anything else to make it make sense, you're giving credence to the idea that bigotry makes logical sense. which it doesn't. it never has.

m/m voyager fanfic loves trying to convince the reader that harry has any sort of ass and yet garrett wang and robbie duncan mcneill have gone on record acknowledging gw’s complete lack of ass. upside down triangle shaped man. STOP the mischaracterization

that said tom is absolutely horny and delusional enough about harry to believe that he has ass so to the keen-eyed this is a good piece of character building through unreliable narration

the emh posts a candid shot of harry bent over examining some weird space rocks on voyager’s internal social media and tom comments “wow everyone look at my thicc king 😍” 100% unironically and it immediately gets screenshot and mocked in the groupchat for all the gay people on voyager excluding tom

I think the one time we can forgive the fandom sin of "deciding a character liking a particular food is >50% of their personality now" is when they're a coffee drinker because that's how coffee drinkers are in real life. I know because I'm one of them

i remember earlier this year when the realis ashcan got released i posted about how the realis setting is Literally Just The Medium From Homestuck except built around storygame ttrpg constructs rather than videogame rpg constructs.

and the homestuck comparison continues to become far more true about realis the friends table season than i could possibly have predicted. they're doing doomed timelines and alternate selves now. they Scratched the session and that turns out to be how the two parties relate to one another. the story was disrupted by the sudden arrival of the bug alien empress's flagship which isn't supposed to be in this version of the universe. an npc seems to have slipped through a fenestrated wall and gained the metanarrative powers inherent to being a pc and is using them to cause the end of the world. a pc is using astrology powets to magically miniaturize planets and smash them together. an infuriating clown is there also
