late night reminder to self: your depressive episode will not last forever. it will have an end. tonight will not be the end of you.

Hey guess what i saw this a few days ago when i was in an absolutely scary slump and then i spoke to my counsellors and did what they told me to do and now i feel so much better. So this is true. Reblogging for more good luck

Thinking about how, in Fear to Tread, Sanguinius says Horus would be the better warmaster because he himself is 'too distant', and how he says it with clear misery in his voice. About how he tries so hard to put himself on equal terms with people, the way his very command bridge is structured around the idea, yet the people keep putting him on an even higher pedestal for it thus doing the exact opposite of what he's trying to do.
Thinking about how a lot of the more intelligent bird species are communal, form strong attachments to their parents/ flock or bond for life. About that one bird who was the last of his species that spent years calling out, waiting for a response that would never come because there was nobody else.
Thinking about how Sanguinius is both an obvious mutant (the giant bird wings), with a secret that he knows could endanger him and everyone he cares about (the red thirst) and how he's openly a psyker (the visions) on top of that. How he must have seen what the Imperium does to mutants and psykers, and knew that if he wasn't the Emperor's son, he would very likely not have been given a chance to live.
About how even amongst the primarchs, who stand apart from humanity, he stands a step further away from even his brothers (sans Horus, who ends up stabbing him in the back), either seen as 'too perfect' or just because his wings and his experiences with them alienate him from the rest (with the exception of maybe Magnus, who has an equal collection of visible and known differences).

i dont want 22 episode seasons back. i dont want 8 episode seasons. i dont actually want a prescriptive number of episodes per season
its the era of streaming. we dont need to fil x number of timeslots.
i want tv shows to be able to determine for themselves what their optimal number of episodes per season to tell the story they want at the pace they want. maybe thats a 3 episode season. maybe thats a 50 episode season. i dont care, i just want the decision to be made for practical and artistic reasons rather than corporate ones
✨ The collection of my Mari Lwyd art through the years ✨ — First art is called: “Dude… give me the bottle” (or when you lost a rhyming contest against the supernatural skeletal horse) Second art is a meme reference x) Third art is featuring Mari on her day off (hence no rhyming, but she wouldn’t say no to a treat) Plus other stuff, silly sketches and artworks, like Mari Lwyd in modern times being disappointed that nobody wants to rhyme with her anymore, so she has to buy everything herself (featuring a distant relative of the guy from the first piece, plus a Waterboy mashup). —

Our youth and family nonprofit theatre is doing the musical Annie with a cast and crew of about 100, mostly children. Yesterday we had a two-show day with limited time for kids to rest and eat in between.
A parent offered to set up catering to be delivered for anyone who didn’t want to or couldn’t leave the site, and asked that anybody who was interested contribute a small amount to the cost. A few parents started asking if they could pay for other families who might not be able to contribute, and put in extra.
The whole cast was fed. There was food left over. Very few families left to get food or brought food from home because there was an abundance. Kids got seconds. Kids got seconds of dessert.
It’s been said a million times, but people balk at the idea of socialism and taxation and “paying for freeloaders” because we’re devoid of community and isolated. Nobody feared “paying for freeloaders” because those freeloaders aren’t faceless, they’re kids who go on playdates with your own children, or families who offered your child a ride when your car broke down. If we could think about other people as members of our community instead of faceless, we would be more generous and sharing almost instantly.
I feel like all the "they broke weird al" "weird al got serious we're so cooked" comments about the killing in the name cover are missing the point. that is not a broken man. comedy is politics. comedy has always been politics. weird al has been satirizing politics for a long time because he knows the court jester can say to the king what other people can't. by doing a serious cover of an explicitly anti-establishment song that his gen x and millennial audience knows by heart when he's built his career on parody, he's saying this can't be satirized anymore and he's saying it in a very deliberate way that his audience will understand. those aren't the actions of a broken man, they're the actions of a man who is trying to tell you something. are we going to listen?
“She was a woman who pretended to be a man to escape oppression.” and it’s someone who lived his life as a man and even his grave has his chosen name on it and bro even said “don’t you dare look at my body post mortem” but of course. Put him in your “women in history” books. Fucking hell.
my fav is amelio robles avila who killed two dudes trying to forcibly transvestigate him and threatened anyone who misgendered him with a gun. i find that stuff about him tends to misgender less than other historical figures who aren't known for threatening to shoot people.
interesting, that's all im saying.
He was also noted to shoot with his right hand while smoking a cigar with this left and that is so fucking metal to me.
Like all he did was aura farm.
I also noticed how even the official Mexican government acknowledges him as a man, something that the American government seems unable to do with our own veterans.
the paris catacombs are 1000x more fucked up than i imagined
did you know the cops once found a fully functioning movie theater with a well-stocked bar inside the catacombs and they when they tried to go back later to formally investigate it was completely emptied out save for a note that read "don't search for us"
Underground french cinema
my little bro is part of the catacombs community and yeah, it's basically a fully autonomous society! enough that when my bro goes in on a friday night, they don't come out until monday for work- sometimes longer if they took days off.
some of the rooms have fully stocked pantries with cooking equipment, some have movies like the one described above, some have books you're allowed to just take but people always put back- every day people bring things from the outside. artists often set up galleries there. there are rooms with mattresses and hammocks set up for people to sleep. one of the room is just a place where people leave shoes for the fun of it.
this is Known, it's not a secret by any means. the catacombs are as big as paris itself, and people live there just as people live above. it's wonderful when you think about it.
A little update! My little bro is now my little sister. Please don't misgender her :)
i promise: however big you think this wave will be, it is bigger
That wasn’t a joke. I aimed my estimate high and then added some.
The wave was bigger.
I like to imagine that, thousands of years ago, humans still stood a (reasonably) safe distance from the ocean during weather like this to watch the waves, hooting and cheering when the spray came closer than expected and left them drenched
