I love how in the books, Shane and Ilya are like no one should find out Ilya is bi because it's this crucial domino piece keeping their plan intact. Because once they know about his sexuality, it would make it easier to put two and two together.
Meanwhile in Game Changer, whenever Scott tells anyone in the league that he's gay, they go "iTs nOt RoZanOv, iS It???? 🤨😒🧐"
LIKE WHY IS ILYA THEIR FIRST GUESS???? HUH? WHY IS MR LADIES MAN!! MANWHORE!! SLUTTY ROZANOV, the first person that pops in their heads?????
maybe it's not that much of a secret after all.
when Rose asked Shane if he's ever been with a man, we know she meant sexually because that's what they were talking about. but in ep 5, the flash backs Shane gets are not sexual at all. they're of him just kissing Ilya. that is what I love Jacob has done so we realize that Shane has definitely fallen for him.
also the i will argue until my last breath, the stairs kiss is the softest fucking thing ever. i love it😭

"Variety: You guys have really become best friends."
Connor: "He was just here for a week and stayed at my place. It’s really enlightening about the culture of how men and man-on-man affection is received because you don’t see that a lot. It’s taboo for men to be friends and grab each other a certain way or hold hands. And me and Hudson being in such a sexual circumstance with one another, it’s really interesting to watch people sexualize our very amicable signs of affection. That just shows where the culture is still at in a way like, “Oh, these two men…” Just because we’re really comfortable with each other and we love each other, we’ve been through the craziest experience together, we’re on this crazy rollercoaster together, if I have my hand on his leg as we’re sitting down doing a press thing because he’s my best buddy and I love him, and we have that level of comfort. It’s just interesting that that instantly gets turned into, “They’re more than friends.”"

Shane’s comfort is his home and his family. When he wants to open up to Ilya, he asks him about his parents and about Russia. Which only causes Ilya to shut down. Ilya has always understood his sexuality and is comfortable with that part of himself. In episode 4, Ilya kept trying to talk to Shane about sex and sexuality. Shane’s sexuality is still something he’s suppressing and doesn’t want to reckon with right now.
The reason Shane and Ilya have such a hard time communicating is that their safe space is the other person’s trigger.
"hollander" (this doesn't have to change, we can go back, we can just be hollander and rozanov and ignore the strings, we can pretend it's nothing more and never talk about it and I'll never say shane again, I'll never ask for more if this is all i can get) "hollander" (there's nothing I can say to keep this from crumbling but i'm begging you)
im reading game changer rn, and Huff just said he was scared Hunter was secretly dating Rozanov and I laughed so hard i swear 😂
oh Huff honey! you have no idea whats coming.
also im suddenly sad that we won't get Huff's reaction to Shane and Ilya coming out like now I want to see his reaction so bad😭
but all that aside, Scott coming out to his best friends 🥹 it was so heartwarming I can't
