Dec. 29 - A fic that made you cry

I think there's only been three of these that I can think of, in all my years, but boy, do they still sit with me.

Terminal Lucidity by @romaine2424 Pairing: Draco x Harry Rating: G Word count: 3,169 Summary:

Harry leaves his Auror position when his dreams drive him to a new profession. One that brings peace to the soul before Death arrives.

This is more bittersweet than anything else. It's beautiful and a lovely new take on Master of Death.

When Hermione finds a way to bring Sirius back from the veil, her actions change the rest of the war. Little does she know her spell restoring him to life provokes magic she doesn't understand and sets her on a path that ends with a Time-Turner.

This is mostly crying due to canon events, but it fleshes out the Marauders characters so much that you almost forget and then everyone dies and it's heartbreaking.

Holy shit, this fic. Another interesting twist on an old trope. I sobbed reading it. I sobbed thinking about it for weeks after, and when I finally recorded it, it took me ages to get through it and you might still here me sniffling a bit. It's so beautiful and so heart-wrenchingly sad, I don't think I will ever forget it.

Hi everyone! You may or may not know me but I’ve been around a while, as writer, reader, podficcer, listener, enjoyer!!

But I am also the creator and one of the admins/mods for a year-long challenge that’s now going into our 6th year, and going in strong: The Fanfic Reading Challenge! We seem to attract a lot of podficcers/listeners, and all the spreadsheet nerds you could ask for. :D (You don’t need to love podfic for this if you don’t want to, haha.)

We offer a variety of types of tasks, such as finding certain titles, authors, tags, and even a whole bunch of Alphabet tasks. We like to call it a scavenger hunt and it’s pretty accurate. But also, half the fun is being part of the community where we pool resources, answer all sorts of questions, and just generally have a good time.

The challenge offers badges for completing different levels of the challenge. Like participation, regular (80 tasks)… all the way up to the crazy (lovingly) people who complete the whole darn thing haha.

Tell me what is going on, Snape.” What was going on was that Severus Snape had no trouble tracking down one Petunia Evans, now Dursley, to a little town in Surrey where he saw how exactly she was treating her nephew. Which somehow led to last night and Severus knocking on Lupin’s door with a toddler half-asleep in his arms.

So I lied yesterday when I said "we'll keep the king" was my first Snupin. This was, but it's so in it's on league and has so much more going on than just Snupin that I forgot. It gets buckwild by the 4th part of the series and I'm here for it.

The monotony of Draco’s daily routine had become both a lifeline and a noose. But this new habit of grabbing coffee with Hermione Granger is quickly becoming a reason to get out of bed and is unfortunately forcing him to re-evaluate his inconsequential existence. Hermione is living her life in fragments, separate pieces scattered about, and she can’t find a way to step back and let the full picture form. Why are morning meetings with Draco Malfoy the only thing that make sense anymore?

The SLOWEST of burns. Also a small, quiet story that unfolds at an exruciating (in a good way) pace. Post-war healing and blueberry scones, Jude knows what she's doing. This is my absolute favorite post-war, no crazy shenanigans Dramione get-together story, and it's become a comfort listen. And of course, Trish does an incredible job narrating.

In the summer of 2004, Auror Harry Potter and Magizoologist Draco Malfoy are sent to the Stellaglas Mountains of Scotland to ensure the safety of two Qilins newly gifted by China. The problem: they haven't spoken since the end of the war and have no intention of doing so.

Just like Brokeback Mountain, on which it is based, this is full of longing looks and suppressed feelings. Unlike Brokeback, it has a fully happy ending. Soli is a lyrical, poetic writer, probably from being French or something 😆

Hanukkah story #8! This is the long one, so I saved it for last!

This particular story came from an amazing genetics paper that I saw linked on Tumblr many many years ago, where a fangirl came up with a plausible explanation for the mechanisms of wizarding inheritance, and my brain immediately grabbed onto this and ran with it, only it stopped running a short way from the end and got stuck until Lim helped me work it out of the mire!
