I haven’t been on this app in a while, but I know a Black man, Keith Porter, was murdered by ICE on New Year’s Eve (Rest in Power) in Cali. Just one of the countless Black people who’ve been murdered by ICE and other agents of the state.

I log back into this app and see the conversations around the white woman, Renee Good, who was just recently killed. And I can’t help but notice the stark difference in circulation of news and boosting of stories between both of them across this app…

Shit has BEEN happening to Black people across administrations and is currently happening to Black people under this administration, and is met by crickets. Yet when it starts touching white people, I see real anger start being felt from the gen pop followed by amplification and co-opting of Black terms and memorialization… I stg it takes everything in me to give af about yall.

Tips for making it stick.

I am a big Shannon Kelly supporter. She recieves so much hate and whilst she is not flawless the majority of the Issues are over her I find do not take into account her view.

She saw something traumatising as a young child and everyone expect her best friend called her a liar and essentially abandoned her. For years she is told that she is mad to the point that she even belives it. Then years later she finally finds out she wasn't and that her best friend - one of the only people she thought was on her side - lied to her and knew all along that the monster was real. Infact she herself was one of them and no one believes her still!!

The poor girl is having to deal with all this ontop of school and exams as she is a child still.

I feel so insane about ai. I've had face-to-face conversations with people who use it for therapy, who use it to calculate the safety of pill interactions, who use it for all their emails and grant applications and legal documents and academic papers and finance sheets and for every single question they have about the world, and if you tell them about the ecological costs they just laugh and say "I guess I've used a lot of water." and I've been in multiple gatherings of 10+ people where I'm THE ONLY PERSON who doesn't use chatgpt. it's turning me into a ranting raving pariah, because how don't you people see??? why don't you understand??????? this bullshit didn't exist five years ago, you absolutely do not need it, and it is destroying everything

Our youth and family nonprofit theatre is doing the musical Annie with a cast and crew of about 100, mostly children. Yesterday we had a two-show day with limited time for kids to rest and eat in between.

A parent offered to set up catering to be delivered for anyone who didn’t want to or couldn’t leave the site, and asked that anybody who was interested contribute a small amount to the cost. A few parents started asking if they could pay for other families who might not be able to contribute, and put in extra.

The whole cast was fed. There was food left over. Very few families left to get food or brought food from home because there was an abundance. Kids got seconds. Kids got seconds of dessert.

It’s been said a million times, but people balk at the idea of socialism and taxation and “paying for freeloaders” because we’re devoid of community and isolated. Nobody feared “paying for freeloaders” because those freeloaders aren’t faceless, they’re kids who go on playdates with your own children, or families who offered your child a ride when your car broke down. If we could think about other people as members of our community instead of faceless, we would be more generous and sharing almost instantly.

A little bit of my personal opinion.

I don't like how Russians, and some other nationalities, are often portrayed in American media.

Want to make an evil character? Give them a Russian or German accent (and the most unrealistic one at that)! Oh! No. Even better. If you want to make an evil character, make them a Soviet communist! Of course. Communists are bad guys. And Russians are bad guys. So if you want a cold, cruel character, make them Russian communist.

When I was little and watching movies, I always wondered why people like me are bad 99% of the time. It just feels like I've eaten shit.
