Poll about ability to access gendercensus.com

Remember when a bunch of people were unable to visit gendercensus.com or get to the survey via survey.gendercensus.com a few weeks back because their malware detectors were blocking the domain?

Intersex participation in Gender Census

I'm curious how many intersex people who participate in @gendercensus write-in "intersex" in the section where you get to write in any gender descriptors not already provided for you.

For those unfamiliar, it's a short annual survey of people whose gender in any way does not neatly fit into the binary.

You get a question where you can check off common terms like transgender and nonbinary, and then 10 empty slots you can use to write in terms that were not provided. Writing in "intersex" in that part is the only means in the survey for somebody to indicate they are intersex, as the survey does not directly ask intersex status.

This year's Gender Census is still open if you haven't filled it in yet!

Those of you who've voted that you need another option - put the option in the replies! 👀 Curious people need to know!

Made a spreadsheet that shows actual intersex people's votes more clearly here, but it'll require me to manually update it. Send an ask if you are impatient and want me to do that!

hi, i wanted to say ive been signed up for the mailing list for a few years now, but this year i didn't seem to recieve an email saying the survey is now open? i got the one saying progress report, but i only realised it was actually open when looking at tumblr

Who among the land of men [gn] can truly know and understand the ways of email?

Me and Andréa had a look at the DNS settings for email recently and she tweaked something important that should hopefully make emails less likely to land in spam folders in future. But that was after the second email went out this year, so I am not sure why you would have not received #1 and then received #2, because there was no difference behind the scenes between the two yet.

I think DNS is probably just an international network of ants carrying your emails written really small on little bits of leaf.

The usual advice is to add the sender's email address to your contacts/address book to prevent their emails from going to spam. So, if you want, you can try adding [email protected] to your email's address book and see if that helps.

I sent out the third Gender Census email on 16th August (5 days ago).

Pre-survey progress

This evening I finished updating the Gender Census to this year's edition in lots of little (and some medium) ways, which was less painful than I expected! Tomorrow, I have an appointment with Andréa to do the code stuff. And then............?

This year I have a plan to try to be a bit more organised about press stuff, so I've written a press release. I could either send out the press release "for immediate release" and open the survey immediately, OR I could send out the press release "for release on [date in 1 week's time]" and open the survey on a set date in one week. The survey will be open for a month so maybe warning isn't that important?

Thoughts?

Graph question

Take a look at these two graphs, which are identical except that the one on the left has line-smoothing turned off and the one on the right has line-smoothing turned on:

Poll about online shop

This is about the online shop on the Gender Census website, which has gender-related zines and pride flag handwarmers and so on: https://shop.gendercensus.com

I make a LOT of stuff, many things aren't related to gender/trans stuff, and my partner says I should put it all on there - but I feel like maybe it should stay on-topic and be gender-related stuff only.

Some of the other things I've been making lately includes 3D-printed fidgets, handwarmers that aren't pride-flag-coloured, and I have some zines I've made that aren't gender-related.

The results are in, from here (above) and from Patreon and the Fediverse:

Overall, everywhere was more up for anything I make to be for sale, not just gender-related stuff. However, it was very close on Tumblr and still quite close on the Fediverse.

I will continue to mull, and if I do decide to diversify, I will make the gender stuff and the everything else stuff be easily separated in the shop. So like, maybe the front page will be gender stuff, and there will be an obvious "click here to see everything and not just gender stuff" link?

Thanks everyone! :)

This is a poll for anyone of any "current" gender identity/experience, cis or trans, binary or not, who has done any kind of medical transition with the "target" of nonbinary gender embodiment.
