It was a familiar resolution, renewed each night and broken each morning upon waking: never again.

Finished the @ghiralink-week fic (for yesterday's prompt "daybreak," though I guess it fits today's prompt "morning" just as well, too). This has been half-finished in my WIPs since... uh, 2021, apparently... so this seems as good a time as any to let it go :)

The Butterfly Boy: a Fairytale.

A fairytale about the feeling of waiting on the edge of massive existential societal tragedies you are powerless to prevent, the way that we scapegoat the victims of broader societal failures as if they were the Cause, and the way that we treat children who will never grow into a "conventional" adulthood.

Thank you to everyone who followed along as I was sharing the pages for these past couple months! <3 :_:

Oh it’s lovely!

Video caption: Good guy who talks like a bad guy

“Perhaps you’d like to see my pets. They were ALL … rescues.”

“And as always, gentlemen, our profits will be … donated.”

“Oh, I wish I could stay and chat, but I’m afraid I have to take my friend to the airport.”

Redeemed villain who can’t let the speech pattern go

btw I’ve found these stretches from the WAK blog very helpful when knitting a lot:

Plus make sure to take breaks regularly - and stop if anything starts to hurt!

especially with gift knitting I know it can be tempting to push through it for a deadline, but it’s really not worth causing long term injury. (And anyone knit-worthy should be understanding of that, imho.) Stay well :)

Also good for artists drawing with pencils/on a tablet/with a pen!

Also good for writers

And crocheters (that word looks wrong)

oh my goddd so I fell asleep trying to plan out a fic last night, and I had this dream that I was trying to cross a river but couldn't find my way across, so I went to this fortune teller who was supposed to be able to give disconcertingly specific advice? anyway, while trying to parse through what she was telling me and getting frustrated because it didn't make any sense, I realized suddenly that all of it was actually advice on how to fix my story

woke up right away and wrote the first thing down and it was honestly good and made sense, which makes the fact that I can't remember any of the rest THAT MUCH WORSE

After the hell of the past two days, this reminded me of what America could and should be about. It’s a little pocket of hope when our administration is trying to extinguish diversity and community and basic human decency and replace them with fear and hate and division.
