It was quite strange, how strong a baby's grip could be.
Alicent had only trailed a hand into the prince's cradle to rest her fingertips against his little chest, but no sooner had she touched the child than his tiny hand had flailed across to grab hold. She'd only meant it to be a moment, a chance to see that his heart was still beating, and now she was...trapped seemed too heavy a word, enthralled too dark. Involved. (That sounded like one of her father's words, but it fit.)
It seemed cruel to take her finger away from him, now that he had it - and who could deny him that, when he'd already lost his mother?

Author’s Note: waited a day to post to have this story premiere on my birthday.
I picked these prompts because I knew they would challenge me. Writing letter in character has always been difficult for me, but I love to challenge myself and improve my writing. I couldn't resist the angst of including a marriage to break a betrothal. I was excited to fully flesh out an OC for this story.

Daemon Targaryen was a feared businessman and ruthless mobster. He had his empire in an iron grip, reigning over large parts of King's Landing, with many trade routes stretching over the exotic illegal markets of Essos and a few more Free Cities.
He was known as the Rogue Prince, a name that had stuck with him since his youth as he worked under his grandfather’s reign.
He talked and walked as if he had descended from a royal house. He always had. Targaryens were above men, close to gods; his grandfather had often mumbled. For Daemon, it was a mantra. He was as close to the gods as any man beneath him.

Summary: It was an ordinary day for Lady Audrana and her betrothed, Prince Aegon II. He was with a whore and she was looking for him, aware of who he was most likely with. Today was the day that Audrana would have given up. Until she came along. The mysterious whore with a kind heart who reached out to Lady Audrana. But not is all as it seems. The day keeps repeating.

Aegon Targaryen, the prince who would drink himself into a stupor. There was one person, however, who could occasionally get him out of his cups that was not his mother: Audrana Baratheon. Daughter of Borros Baratheon, one of his many daughters, who found solace in Aegon and his… interesting ways of life as royalty, as she would put it.
Audrana Baratheon walked through the Red Keep, a semi-permanent visitor in the place. Her father had arranged a marriage between Prince Aegon and herself. At first, she hated them, hated him, but had grown to eventually love Aegon. His constant drinking irked her, and his constant visits to the Streets of Silk hurt her, but she kept her head held high. It was not as though Prince Aegon hated her. No, in fact, he had grown quite close to her and had grown to love her himself. He was simply too scared to ever admit such a thing. Instead, he found himself drinking and fucking his worries away.
Queen of Love and Beauty
He would prevail, gods willing. He would knock Prince Daemon on his arse to the delight of the gathered crowd. His father would be proud, though he would not show it. His sister, Alicent, would smile, ridding herself of the frown of worry that always sat on her lips when she watched him compete. King Viserys himself would praise his victory over his brother. Best of all, he would win the right to crown the Queen of Love and Beauty. What better way could there be for him to introduce himself to his betrothed?

This has influences of a lot of fairytales and folklore to create an equivalent of faeries that could fit in the world of House of the Dragon and Fire & Blood. Faeries in connection with war are most often fighting for the preservation of their realms and culture, and the topic of war is more of an underlying theme in the narrative. Also, in contrast to the depiction of disabled people in fairytales, Aegon and Larys are among the few survivors in canon, thus making them the focus of this story, and contradicting the source material of this fic's inspirations. Rhaenys stood before the polished silvered-looking glass that had once belonged to her lady grandmother. It had been brought to a chamber in the upper gallery so that she could prepare and make her way down to the throne room with greater ease. The looking glass was hers now, as was the wealth of silks and jewels and coin that belonged to that lady and her lord, the now dead king. Rhaenys closed her eyes and took a moment to compose herself as tears threatened to gather. Her beloved lady grandmother was no more, as was the man she once admired and must now succeed. The Red Keep was filled with gaiety and boisterous mirth, for all knew that this was the day that the second son of King Viserys, the First of His Name, and half-brother of Rhaenyra, the Princess Regent, would leave for the palace sept to take the Lady Maelara Paenymion of Volantis for his wife.
