It was so important to me to see Ilya embrace and adore Shane’s autistic traits in the series. And I loved seeing in the finale how Ilya is able to calm Shane down when he spirals when thing are out of his control. Shane has fully body meltdowns this episode and Ilya gives him comforting/encouraging words along with gentle physical touch like a hug, back rub, kiss, or hand hold. He just so perfectly helps to calm Shane down and bring him back.
I've talked about this in tags but I need it to be a full post. There's something about Ilya wearing long sleeves here that kills me. I love that Shane is in a cozy hoodie, too, but it doesn't grab my attention as much because he's not dressed that differently from his usual wardrobe.
But Ilya? He's constantly showing off his body whenever he has the chance. This man is allergic to sleeves. He usually rips his shirt off at the first opportunity.
Ilya's usual wardrobe (or sometimes lack thereof lol) reflects the way he views his body as a commodity, like it's the only thing he has to offer, so he's constantly showing it off.
But then we have this beautiful montage showing the ways that Shane and Ilya have slotted into each other's lives in a pretty regular routine. It's a hot montage, but it's also creeping toward a feeling of domesticity, especially in this moment.
Wearing this shirt to a hookup shows that Ilya has reached a new level of comfort with Shane. He doesn't feel the same pressure to play the seduction game. Shane is going to kiss him the same way regardless of what he's wearing.
That plus the fact that Shane is taking control and pushing Ilya against the glass. Ilya's whole demeanor reflects the way he feels comfortable and taken care of in this moment and it does something particular to my heart.
I don't think Ilya is consciously thinking about why he dresses all comfy cozy for this hookup. He still has a while before he internalizes the truth that Shane wants him just as he is. But Ilya also tends to act based on feeling before he fully understands the subconscious behind those actions.
I love this demonstration of instinctual comfort he's feeling with Shane, even if he's not actively realizing it.
Looking at gifsets of hollanov kisses makes me realise yet AGAIN just how fucking desperate and eager and needy Shane always is for Ilya's kisses. Like the way he leans into it with his entire being, the way he grips anywhere he can on Ilya and pulls closer, closer, the way he looks fucking drunk on the taste and feel of their mouths together, the way he can barely BARELY make himself pull away even when he's actively panicking and trying to run away and even THEN it takes him a few tries till he can actually stop kissing and nuzzling Ilya completely.
No wonder that the one time they did not kiss hit him so fucking hard. Like that boy lives for Ilya Rozanov's kisses.
Omg Amanda the Jedi made a video about our show!!!! And if you don't know her, she's one of the best youtuber out there, she's a cinema expert, she was in the jury at the last Critic Choice Award, she's Canadian and she's queer. Her opinions reach millions of followers every week, she's very well spoken and she's always right and fair about her reviews, even the negative ones (not in this case though, she LOVED the show)
Please watch it and share it (maybe leave her a comment for the algorithm) 😊
I really and genuinely need season 2 to have more sex because the amount of people who think that the sex should stop or slow down now that there’s emotional intimacy is staggering.
Once you’re in a fully committed relationship with someone you love and want to have sex with, the intimacy and trust only makes you into bigger freaks btw.
Anyway, HR foley artist, I’m expecting more wet thrusting sounds from you. I don’t care if you have to slap all the roasted hams in Canada to do it.
heated rivalry incorrect quotes: part three.
made more because i'm kinda of obsessed with it now... also finally did some scott x kip ones, love those boys sm

Personal space? Nope - never heard of it.
Is that…… them
YALL THERES MORE TO THE SERIES
Unblocked twt cause i finally finished ep5 and OMG.
Like, jesus christ, i think i've never seen them acting so like themselves in any other episodes. The whole scene with Rose and Shane was so beautifully written and Hudson look was FIRE. I'm not addressing Ilya's monologue cause i'm in pure pain rn, but the whole rest of it *CHEF KISS*
I loved that they took the time to make a lil corner for skip that wasn't just having them kiss in television. You can SEE Scott fighting himself to be brave, i found it so fucking real.
(Shane's face when skip kissed was so funny i LoLd a lil too much tho, like yeah baby you can play hockey and be gay, be like your beardy uncle)
looked a cool artist i found and instead of her actual art the first result google showed me was AI art made with her work. i hate it here!!!!!!!
well anyway. my discovery of the day is the art of Jeffrey Catherine Jones! she was a trans woman who painted a huge amount of fantasy & scifi cover art for books and magazines, among other things :)
A book crystallized in the ocean
oh mood
NO NO NO.
This was not crystallized by the ocean. People. No. This is why artist credit is SO DAMN IMPORTANT THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE MISINFORMED HERE.
Alexis Arnold is an artist who creates crystallized books. Her work is amazing and beautiful, she’s made dozens of these.
This particular one was not made by her, however, it was actually created by Catherine McEver - who was inspired to try it after seeing a show of Alexis Arnold’s work. It’s literally the first picture on Google image results if you search for “crystallized books” and she posted about it on her blog showing other process shots as she made it.
TWO DIFFERENT WOMEN ARE BEING DEPRIVED OF CREDIT FOR THEIR CREATIVITY BECAUSE THIS FALSE INFORMATION IS BEING SPREAD. FUCK THAT.

Considering how many times I’ve seen the uncredited post on my dash I’m finally going to reblog it, with the proper credits.
