Constructing geographic edifices that challenge the boundaries of hilldom and devising exciting new dooms to meet upon them.
Best way I’ve ever seen academia described.
Fandom, academia, and Minecraft.
OHHHHH maces work the way they do because they use a breeze rod for crafting!!!! wait!!!! thats so smart!!!! its because of the breeze rod being part of the handle that maces have the same effect as wind charges when you hit something after falling from up high!!!!!!
something about the heavy core combined with a breeze rod gives that effect when hitting stuff while falling. maybe the heavy core hitting against something while the wielder is falling causes enough pressure/force on the handle to the point it reacts like a wind charge
does anyone know how to be normal about minecraft
Good news! Elementary schoolers of the modern day still believe this is part of vanilla minecraft. I have borne firsthand witness to these discussions.
the folkloric gate to heaven requires journeying to hell to get its building material
yo what's the handle of the fancy calligraphy guy can we get them over here that's a line
oh good i needed a warmup piece
#listen i dont mean to be that guy but#you can make glowstone by using glowstone dust#and witches drop glowstone dust#no hell needed
buddy not to be a ridiculous nerd about it but you realize that seeking out dark magic users to kill them and pry potion ingredients out of their dead, cold hands isn't exactly non-hellish behavior? maybe the journey to hell is internal idk your playstyle
[[HOME]]
Every instinct I felt told me that this was it
What I didn’t know I was searching for:
Home
I didn’t look like any home I’d ever known. Pillars stretching to the sky like the arms of endermen, broken terrain that I’d once thought of as an anomaly in the world, water pouring from a wound in the sky
Why did this, out of the many dimensions and dreams and biomes I have roamed across my journey, feel like…Home?
What am I, to where this is where I return to for solace?
My tools weren’t my own. I felt them crumble in my hands as new ones took their places. My food, too, replaced by something that felt…more appropriate
Those old things weren’t welcome here.
I heard a noise, a distinct rotten groan that I once associated with a ‘Zombie’, but I knew that wasn’t what made that noise
Memories flashed before my mind at such a pace I felt as though my head would melt, and I pressed my palm to my head as the groaning noise drew closer
I wonder…as I stack dirt to not be bothered by the creature as it slipped out of the shadows and scorched in the fading light…
Ever since I woke up in that glade…all that time ago…
…am I finally…
…Home?
I’m going to sound insane for a sec but I feel like people are forgetting that casual players of Minecraft exist. The other day I saw someone talk about how no one uses mounts anymore because everyone uses elytra’s and it’s like HUH?? What are you on about bro 😭 wtf are you on about. Getting a horse used to be the biggest deal to me and it still is. Today I got into an argument about how Minecraft isn’t a game about colonialism because unless you choose to play as a colonist than it’s about love. It’s always been about love. No one is forcing you to make villager farms that’s all you man. I am just building a house and enjoying myself
Saw this and i decided to make something with it, and well,,, Basically, I like to imagine that Herobrine, Alex, and Steve are actually gods, but they like to disguise themselves as humans for specific reasons. Alex and Steve often do it to see firsthand how the players' lives are going, while Herobrine is just there to cause terror and caos and scare players for fun, asdhsdaghasd thats all!!.
wait. how would minecraft flower language work. would it take into account the effects the flower gives you when you make it into suspicious stew? a cornflower could mean "good luck" because it gives you jump boost, and the jump boost potion is made of a rabbit's foot, which is often seen as a lucky charm. maybe an oxeye daisy could mean something like "my love for you is (re)kindling" because it gives regeneration. lily of the valley would be seen as an insult because it gives poison. you know?
wither roses, azure bluets, open eyeblossoms, closed eyeblossoms and tulips would be bad omens or insults too. because tulips make weakness stews, azure bluets and open eyeblossoms make blindness stews, closed eyeblossoms make nausea, and wither roses... well, they give you withering when you stand in them and when made into a stew.
meanwhile blue orchids and dandelions give you saturation, and alliums give fire resistance, so they could be meant as a compliment or given to mean you have the strength you need to get through something
what about the flowers you get from the sniffer?
torchflowers, alike poppies, give you night vision. they could mean something like you'll see something great in your future for poppies, or see/find something you missed/lost in your past for torchflowers. pitcher plants can't be made into a stew though.
not every flower can be made into a stew so those that can't have meanings unrelated to that mechanic.
pitcher plants are sooo interesting though because they craft into cyan dye. i'd argue cyan is the most valuable bc it requires green and dye to be crafted and green is one of the hardest dyes to get because it requires growing cacti and smelting them. and blue dye is, i'd argue valuable too, because its only cornflowers and lapis you can craft it from. not to mention the process of even obtaining a pitcher plant in the first place. they would most definently be seen as a compliment too, like "[something valuable]". probably most often paired with other flowers though.
and as someone mentioned in the notes, wither roses are most likely just an outright threat or act of violence considering theyre the only flower that is outright harmful to you without being crafted into anything
@puppygirl-official wanted to put this in the full thread too. i can definently see that & i think the language could also extend to other plants like saplings, leaves, and other flora.
a lot of it could be really dependant on context — one of my friends brought up that wither roses could also mean grief, because a wither has to kill something for you to get a wither rose, and i think it that depends on context because giving it to someone who doesnt know you seems like a threat, but giving it to someone you know in a specific context with other flowers could mean you're saying "sorry for your loss"
@fandoms-bandoms-andmentalissues ive already mentioned how it could be context dependant here in the full thread, but considering that wither roses damage you when you stand on them and the withering stew, i feel like in most contexts this probably wouldnt be the case. it'd be used more often out of malicious intent than it would any sort of good intent
my take on wither roses and their meanings, in-universe (some of these with the light astrick of "in my minecraft cosmology, i see withers as war machines):
i don't have much else to add — this is quite fun!
!
i love posting about my random thoughts regarding mc worldbuilding because so many different people chime in with ideas related to it
@astoriagalaxy i know Fuck All about real world flower languauge i'm just drawing connections based on whats ingame
i had a video in my tabs about real flower language that i had paused intentionally waiting to watch until i was done writing down my thoughts on minecraft flower language because i didnt want to accidentally draw on a biased opinion/thought based on real world flower languauge

ok. hi gang! i have set up a google form asking about how you value ores (which one is the most and least valuable, which ores youd take in exchange for another and how many of each ore youd take for single piece of another, as well as some extra entirely optional questions that are tangentially related)! you can find it here! all the information necessary is on the form.
this is purely out of curiousity. it is connected to a sheet, which means i'll probably make a stat post about it (or let someone else do it if they're more intrigued than i am). feel free to send this to other people! actually, please do. would also appreciate reblogs if you do fill it out :]
its really scuffed buet like. work with me here
for the stats people (me) heres the current stats for what ores people are willing to exchange for eachother!
Oh I have a fun anomaly occurrence in Minecraft from my childhood!
So I have a very vivid memory, back in the early days of Minecraft Pocket Edition, like EARLY early, I’d guess probably 2012-2013, me and my brother played on a LAN world together, which afaik was the only way to play multiplayer on pocket edition at the time.
We were playing on our world one day, when we got a message in chat.
“ joined the game”
No name, just a single space blank.
Both of us being, yknow, children at the time, rightfully freaked out and logged off the world. A few days later, we logged back on, and nothing was immediately out of the ordinary, until we went into our mine. We found a 2x2 tunnel at bedrock stretching from one end of the world to the other (limited world size) that neither of us had dug out, and a second 2x2 tunnel perpendicular running from the other two ends of the world.
Neither of us have any explanation for this to this day, I have genuinely no idea what happened. I like to joke with people that I encountered Herobrine as a kid, but with no real answers, I have no idea what could’ve caused any of that.
the real answer is probably some sort of bug or someone exploiting/hacking. nonetheless a very fascinating experience
